A press release revealed a new look for the second season of the animated series “Arcane“, based on the universe of the video game franchise”League of Legends“. The statement confirms that The premiere is still scheduled for November 2024 through the global catalog of the Netflix platform.coinciding with the premiere window of the first season and the fifteenth anniversary of “League of Legends”.

The first season of “Arcane” received widespread praise for its animation, story, world-building, action sequences, characters, emotional charge, sound, and voice acting. Some have highlighted the series' appeal to both casual viewers who have never played "League of Legends" and veteran fans of the video game.

Several critics and publications have considered it one of the best video game adaptations ever made. In 2022, the series became the first streaming series to win the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program and the Annie Award for Outstanding General Audience Animated Television Production.

When the first season ended, the second was announced soon after, leaving fans quite pleased. However, this sequel was not in the production team's plans, who did not expect the adaptation to be such a tremendous success, as Riot Games CEO Nicolo Laurent commented during the brief interview segment.

Arcane Synopsis

The story takes place in the cities of Piltover and Zaun. Although Arcane focuses solely on these two cities, they are part of the world of Runeterra. Piltover is the academic, scientific and wealthy city, while Zaun is the complete opposite, with suburbs full of crime, poverty and infested with toxic chemicals, where there is no authority whatsoever. The tensions and rivalries that exist between these two cities divide families and friends, as in the case of Vi and Powder, two Zaunite sisters; or Jayce and Viktor, two inventor friends and apprentices of the legendary scientist Heimerdinger. All these relationships will overflow with the creation of Hextech in Piltover, a technology with which anyone can control magical energy, while in Zaun a new drug transforms humans into monsters.
