Artists upset AI is incompetent, they say

A heated debate recently arose on a Japanese comment forum, where several members discussed the controversial view that the artists who complain about the rise of AI are actually the least talented and incompetent in the market. According to some forum participants, these complaints are comparable to those of those who opposed machines during the Industrial Revolution, fearing that they would lose their jobs due to new technology.

Proponents of this position argue that, as in the Industrial Revolution, there are people who see AI as a threat to their livelihoods. However, they claim that if an artist is truly talented, an AI could never surpass them. This debate highlights a significant divide in the arts community. While some see AI as tools that can potentially enhance and complement human work, others see it as a direct threat to their profession and creativity.
The ability of artificial intelligence to generate illustrations from instructions, training with millions of images available on the Internet, has generated a violent reaction among many artists. The rejection of AI by the art community is mainly based on the idea that these technologies do not create original art, but rather copy and combine existing pieces of art created by real people.
On the other hand, some industry analysts argue that artificial intelligence can democratize access to artistic creation, allowing more people to experience art and produce works without the need for advanced technical skills. However, this does not alleviate concerns that the proliferation of AI-generated art could saturate the market and devalue the work of human artists.
- «Well, if they are losing their only source of income, I'm sure many of them will be upset.».
- «Unimaginative people who thought they were the only ones who wouldn't lose their jobs to AI».
- «Drawing is everything to me!».
- «It is very rare to find a profession that does not lose its job due to AI.».
- «I think it would be better if AI did all the original drawings for the animations. They're making about 300 yen an hour, and it would be better for the world if we let them go.».
- «I believe the industry as a whole would be healthier if all but a few high-profile actors disappeared. Animators and other humans should not be able to do this work.».
- «It would be better to replace everyone except those who manage with AI, honestly. There is no need to use humans if all they do is draw the original paintings».
- «White-collar workers are frustrated. Here’s why AI is taking all the jobs».
- «Will AI also be used for dubbing? Personally, I would like the voices of the deceased to be used».
- «Why are you angry that those who have no or low productivity are eliminated?».
- «Japan is expected to lose the most jobs in the world due to AI. South Korea and China will take jobs away from Japan with AI».
- «Japan will lose the most jobs to AI in the world, but Japan can't even create a new industry with AI, according to estimates, which makes me feel ashamed».
- «Fools trying to protect their vested interests is also very ugly».
- «No matter how much noise they make here, both artists and white-collar workers will be replaced by AI.».
