While the idea that characters with this hair color are unpopular resonated with many, others pointed out that there are notable counterexamples that refute this claim. One user commented: «Roronoa Zoro is super popular! Didn't he come in second place in the polls?», referring to the popular One Piece character, much loved and one of the most iconic in the franchise.

Another fan noted: “How many years has Hatsune Miku been at the top?», mentioning Hatsune Miku, the popular Vocaloid who, although it is often debated whether her hair is blue or green, remains an influential figure in Japanese pop culture. However, not all green-haired characters have had the same impact.

One commenter was reminded of “Uruha Rushia,” a popular Vtuber who at one point changed her hair color from green to pink.which some interpreted as an indication that green was not a favorable color. Another user mentioned the popularity of “Star Twinkle Precure“, where, although there are green-haired characters, they are not the most prominent.

Part of the discussion revolves around the cultural and aesthetic perception of the color green in the context of anime and manga characters. It is argued that green, especially in shades closer to "pure green", can be difficult to combine with other colors in character designs, which could limit its popularity.

One user commented: «Blue with a touch of green is still fine, but when it's pure green it tends to clash with your skin tone, which can make choosing an outfit difficult.». Another factor could be the tendency of the main characters, where more traditional colors such as red, blonde or black tend to dominate.

One user stated: «If you make the main heroine have red, pink, or ginger hair, the rival heroine will usually have blue hair.», suggesting that green is often relegated to secondary characters. While many consider green-haired characters unpopular, the debate is far from over.
