My Hero Academia Casts All Might as the Villain

On the official website of the anime adaptation of the manga written and illustrated by Kohei Horikoshi“My Hero Academia (My Hero Academia)”, a new promotional video for the fourth original film in the franchise was revealed, titled “My Hero Academia: The Movie – You’re Next” and scheduled to premiere on next August 2nd in cinemas in Japan.

The video shows a fragment of the main theme song titled “Homunculus” and interpreted by Vaundy. This new film It will have a completely original story (i.e. non-canonical) written by author Kohei Horikoshiwho also oversees the design and character design, while the plot will unfold in the same timeline as the anime's seventh season, currently airing.

In turn, Horikoshi began publishing the manga “My Hero Academia“in the magazine Weekly Shonen Jump from the publisher Shueisha in July 2014 and entered its final story arc in March 2021. The anime adaptation produced by the studios BONES has been running since April 2016, inspiring a total of six seasons to date and a seventh already broadcast.

Synopsis of My Hero Academia: The Movie – You're Next

A society ravaged by battles between heroes and enemies (villains), and infested with Datsugoku, people who have escaped from the enemies' prisons. Just before the final battle between heroes like the protagonist Izuku Midoriya (Deku) and his enemies, a serious incident occurs that shakes the world. What does the title "You're Next" mean?

With the tagline “Challenge the Symbol of Peace,” the image shows the members of UA Academy’s Hero Class 1A—Deku, Katsuki Bakugou, Shoto Todoroki, Ochako Uraraka, and Tenya Iida—and a man who looks exactly like him to All Might. lingering restlessly beyond his gaze.
