In fact, the quickest way to see Whis's more cheerful side is to offer him fun or unusual food that delights his taste buds. Beerus and Whis function as a traditional comedy duo in the vein ofStrange couple,with Whis often getting annoyed by Beerus' demanding nature and general rudeness. This opens up a lot of fun comedic scenarios that could easily be inserted into the show without breaking the overall pacing, making the duo get plenty of spotlight time without ever feeling like they're taking away from the main characters.

What makes Beerus and Whis even cooler is their status as Goku and Vegeta's tutors.. While Goku has had tutor figures before, by the time Whis was introduced, Goku had already been without one for quite some time. On the other hand, Vegeta hasn't had a long-term on-screen tutor, which makes this a first for him. The great thing about having new tutors is that it gives the series time to delve deeper into Goku and Vegeta's characters, allowing viewers to learn more about them and their desire to become stronger - something that allows the audience to see how the characters have changed since the end.
