Popular Japanese cosplayer Glico (ぐりこ) caused a stir on social media after sharing a series of videos where she shows her impressive cosplay of Asuka Langley, an iconic character from the “Neon Genesis Evangelion” franchise. However, what caught the attention of millions of users was not only the fidelity of the cosplay, but a curious and unexpected detail: The rubber-like material of the suit accumulated a large amount of sweat due to the summer heat and lack of breathability.

Glico attended an event in Tokyo wearing Asuka's signature tight-fitting red suit made of a material that does not allow sweat to be absorbed. As a result, after several hours in the sun, sweat began to accumulate inside the suit until it turned into a considerable amount of liquid.which was evidenced when the cosplayer took off her rubber boots and showed how sweat was dripping onto the floor.

In one of the videos, Glico explained what happened:

  • «Rubber material doesn’t absorb sweat, so this happens, but in the middle of summer cosplayers tend to sweat a lot and their costumes absorb the sweat. Don’t forget to take breaks and stay hydrated during your summer photoshoots!».

The cosplay community praised Glico for his dedication and patience in wearing a costume made of such barely breathable material in the middle of summer. On this occasion, Glico took the opportunity to raise awareness among other cosplayers about the importance of taking frequent breaks and staying hydrated during photo shoots on extremely hot days.valuable advice considering the effects of climate on the health and well-being of those who practice cosplay.

The unusual accumulation of sweat on Glico's suit didn't just generate surprised reactionsbut also some humorous and thoughtful comments about the difficulties of cosplaying in the summer:

  • «Is this what a plug suit looks like in real life?».
  • «This is typical of wetsuits.».
  • «Just looking at it makes me feel itchy, I suffer from atopic dermatitis».
  • «With so much sweat I would be worried about ruining my makeup.».
  • «I thought it was me after a day's work in the summer».
  • «With this heat, it's logical that you sweat a lot outdoors. Seeing this, it's easy to understand the importance of staying hydrated.».
