A story to care about and act upon.

Romper El Círculo finally hits theaters, being the adaptation of the homonymous novel written by Colleen Hoovera book that since its publication in 2016 has become a good instrument for empowering women and, above all, for reflecting on the topics covered in its content.

The novel is Hoover's first book to be adapted into a film, and although production on the film began in 2019 (before it began to go viral with content creators and media outlets around 2022), it comes at a perfect time to appeal to both men and women. Think about it, one of the author's experiences was what inspired the events within the novel, which took the story of her mother as the central axis of the plot, writing the work in search of understanding how and why someone left an abusive relationship with their father.

What was not known is that this story would connect so many people, currently being one of the best-selling books and managing to remain among the popularity lists, and it is not an exaggerated or fashionable situation, as it is something that for many years, even decades, was normalized by the sexist and misogynistic mentality, by family and partner violence.

With a reflective and romantic theme, the adaptation of the soap opera hits theaters Break the circle, in which the actors not only got involved in their characters, but were also behind it, Justin Baldoni acts as director and one of the co-stars, Ryle Kincaid, and Blake Lively who plays the role of producer and protagonist, Lily Bloom, closely supported by the author of the book for its correct adaptation, supporting the script, does all this allow for a good and respectful adaptation? The immediate answer is yes.

Quebre o círculo

An adaptation worthy of generating a theme.

The story of Break the circle tells us about Lily Bloom's childhood trauma and the current situation with her partner, the possible return of someone important from her past and as she gradually becomes aware of the patterns that marked her childhood and adolescence, she will have to decide whether to break the cycle or love will conquer all.

The way the work is captured on film is quite good, especially because the reader who comes to see it will be faced with the expectation and images formed in his brain against something already physically produced. Fortunately, it takes the soul and plot of the book with respect and gives the same feeling as the literary work, playing with the viewer whether it was a possible accident, or several. red flag which due to passion and emotional blackmail is not clearly visualized.

Quebre o círculo

The central theme of the Break the circle In the film and in the novel it is touched with delicacy but at the same time it is a blunt message that no one should endure situations of any type of violence, the safe haven where they can go and above all break social and family patterns or schemes, it is horrible to know or know at least one woman who is in similar or worse situations and especially men with abusive and possessive behavior, and although this violence can come from any gender, currently it is more notable in the type of relationships in which one of them They are the dominant ones.

Feeling the main plot.

The performances are good, Liveli creates a character to empathize with and Baldoni to hate, supporting actors Jenny Slate and Brandon Sklenar give us characters to attach ourselves to, the support given to the protagonist gives us a sense of security and support at all times in relation to the plot.

Photography and photo manipulation Break the circle helped us to understand Lily Bloom's thoughts internally, in which they avoid being so literal or direct in violent moments and leave us with the doubt whether it was an accident or a violent explosion, and little by little this truth is revealed through what you take the co-star and the internal consequences for the protagonist.

Musically, a lot of drama and romance content is dealt with, it fits well with the tone of the film and helps to awaken emotions from what we are seeing on screen, hoping that people can and will continue with the goal of changing the current situations that are already obvious and must be eradicated.

Conclusion:

Break the circle It must be a very good adaptation of the novel, which seeks to open the eyes of those who are unfamiliar with the book and reach a wider audience. Let's hope that the strategy works so that the public can seek help, reflect and, above all, undergo therapy with mental health professionals, to break this horrible cycle of domestic and conjugal violence, resolve traumatic situations generated by this problem and, most importantly, be able to get out of dangerous situations, know who to lean on and take the courage necessary to achieve peace and happiness. We left the theater with mixed positive feelings, even though it is a film aimed at a female audience, the same work can work to make the counterpart in a relationship that is friendly or loving to be able to realize and ask for help and avoid such abusive behaviors. A must-see for any gender that will stir up many themes and emotions.
