Inio Asano's critically acclaimed sci-fi drama Demons Dead Dead Dededede Destruction recently inspired a theatrical anime film that premiered on March 22, 2024, in Japan. Now, as Part 2 of the film is set to be released on May 24 in Japan, a Demons Dead Dead Dededede Destruction The TV anime series will make its global streaming debut on Crunchyroll.
According to a press release, anime streaming giant Crunchyroll has acquired the rights to the newly announced Dededede Dededede Destruction of the Dead Demon anime TV series for release in over 200 countries and territories worldwide. The new DDDD The anime project will be an 18-episode TV adaptation of the two-part theatrical films, featuring new footage never before seen in theaters. Crunchyroll will begin streaming the new DDDD anime TV series on Thursday, May 23 at 8 p.m. (PT). New episodes will continue to be released weekly.

Dead Dead Demons Dededede Destruction Features Star-Studded Cast and Crew
Lilas Ikuta, singer, songwriter and lead singer of the Japanese pop duo Yoasobi, provides the voice of Kadode Koyama. Oran Nakagawa is played by Ano, who provided the voice of Mem-cho in Oshi no Ko. Tomoyuki Kurokawa is the director of the anime, known for his previous work as an episode director for Wolf Rain, Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis and .hack // Subscribe, among many other titles. Production +h is the animation studio behind the project. Reiko Yoshida – who is credited for such prestigious Kyoto Animation series as Violet Evergarden and Liz and the Blue Bird – is involved with the DDDD anime for the series' composition and script.

Demons Dead Dead Dededede Destruction tells the story of two high school students going about their daily lives as the arrival of an alien mothership causes mass hysteria around the world. The manga, written and illustrated by Asano, was nominated for a 2019 Eisner Award and was recognized as one of the best new manga of the year at the 2018 San Diego Comic-Con. The official synopsis provided by Crunchyroll reads: “As the world is threatened by the sudden appearance of a mysterious alien mothership, best friends Kadode Koyama and Oran ‘Ontan’ Nakagawa continue to grapple with their high school life. They grapple with existential questions, learning the complexities of adulthood and that the real threat may not come from above.”
