TMS Entertainment has shared an exclusive message from director Masaki Watanabe about the upcoming Sakamoto Days anime adaptation.

In the message, Watanabe expressed his enthusiasm and vision for the project, giving fans an idea of what they can expect from the upcoming anime.

He revealed that he was immediately captivated by the manga's dynamic action sequences and emphasized the studio's intention to translate that energy into the anime through strategic use of movement, color, and sound.

When I first read the SAKAMOTO DAYS manga, I remember being excited by the dynamic action scenes.

For the anime, we would like to channel this emotion through action and speed, utilizing 'movement', 'color' and 'sound' unique to animation.

The director also highlighted the importance of preserving the manga's humor and the protagonist's distinctive character.

This balance of action, humor and character depth is expected to be a defining characteristic of the upcoming series.

We hope to preserve the humor present in the story, while also fully portraying Sakamoto's character as the family-loving hitman that he is.

As the production team works diligently to bring this vision to life, Watanabe asked fans to be patient.

Sakamoto Days The anime has been officially confirmed for release in January 2025.

Tomokazu Sugita, known for playing Gintoki Sakata, will voice the main character Taro Sakamoto.

TMS Entertainment, the studio behind Detective Conan, Fruit basket (2019), and Dr. Stoneis set to handle animation production for the Sakamoto Days anime.

Masaki Watanabe will direct, with Taku Kishimoto responsible for series composition, and Yo Moriyama handling character designs.

Sakamoto Days is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yuto Suzuki. It has been serialized in Shueisha's shonen manga magazine Weekly Shonen Jump since November 2020, with its chapters collected in 16 tankobon volumes as of April 2024.

It is published simultaneously in English by Viz Media and the online platform Manga Plus.
