Popular entertainment channel Crunchyroll recently interviewed Pascal Charruéco-founder of French studios Forticheresponsible for the successful anime “Arcane”based on the franchise "League of Legends". During the interview, Charrue made a statement that quickly became a trend: he expressed interest in adapting the iconic manga "Tramp" of Takehiko Inoue.

In the interview, when asked which manga he would like to adapt for animation with his team, Charrue replied:

  • That's a tough question. The first adaptation that comes to mind would be Takehiko Inoue's Vagabond. It's a masterpiece with incredible depth and stunning art that would be fascinating to bring to life in animation. Although Naoki Urasawa's works have undergone multiple adaptations, they continue to be a significant source of inspiration for us.
  • When thinking about manga to adapt, it's crucial to find ones that really benefit from animation. I'm often disappointed with some adaptations for the simple fact that the pacing of a manga, which you control as a reader, doesn't always translate well to animation.

"Tramp"first published in 1998, is a loose adaptation of the novel “Musashi” by Eiji Yoshikawa, which tells the life of the legendary Japanese swordsman Miyamoto Musashi. The work is acclaimed for its stunning art and deep character development, which has made it one of the most respected and beloved manga series among fans.

However, despite its success and recognition, “Vagabond” is in terrible shape not because of its quality, but because it has been suspended since May 2015. In an interview, Takehiko Inoue revealed that the main reason he placed Tramp on indefinite hiatus is because the overwhelming pressure of making the perfect series completely drained his passion, becoming a chore instead of something he enjoyed.

The possibility of seeing "Tramp" adapted by the talented Fortiche studios, generated a lot of excitement among fans. Known for his work on “Arcane”Fortiche has demonstrated a unique ability to create animations that capture the essence of the original stories while delivering a stunning and dynamic visual style.

Fans of the manga and Fortiche's work are eagerly awaiting more news about this potential adaptation, dreaming of seeing Miyamoto Musashi's epic battles and deep spiritual journey brought to life on screen. In the meantime, the community continues to support Takehiko Inoue, patiently awaiting his return to the world of “Vagabond.”
