The ambitious project “Josei Dake no Machi (women only)”who sought to create a city only for women in an uninhabited village, was canceled after failing to reach its goal of raising 500 million yen (over US$3.46 million) on crowdfunding platform Campfire. This fundraising failure marks the end of an initiative that generated expectation and controversy in the community.

The projectled by a person identified as “An (あん)”, Its main objective was to ensure the safety and well-being of women, creating a space where they could live freely and without worries. According to the project description, the idea was to rebuild an abandoned village and transform it into a safe place exclusively for women, in an effort to provide an environment where they could fully live their identity and build a shared future.

Since its launch, the project has attracted attention for its radical approach and the uniqueness of its proposal. However, the difficulties in raising funds were evident from the beginning. Despite the aspirations of An and his team, the lack of financial support was an insurmountable obstacle.
