“Genshin Impact” premiered the previously announced animated short with a song by Hole Mixture Yes To like during a special live broadcast of version 4.7. The animation, titled «The road not taken», includes the characters Aether, Lumine, Paimon, and Dainsleif and can be seen traveling through the nations of Teyvat.

• «But at least you are still somewhere in this world. The trail of a shooting star that long ago crossed the sky, now it is the untraveled path that I seek you.».

The broadcast also announced upcoming Clorinde and Alhaitham banners in the first half of the year with the new 4-star character “Sethos, the Wisdom Meter,” while Sigewinne and Furina are in the second half. The next nation, Natlan, was introduced towards the end of the livestream, showing dragon-like creatures and vishap roaming the region. Genshin Impact Version 4.7 is scheduled to release on June 5.

While the video game's latest animated short is beautiful and captivating, many fans are more concerned with the franchise's anime currently in production. At least as far as fans know, this is still happening, as there has been virtually no further confirmed news since the anime's initial announcement in September 2022.

Likewise, fans' concern over the anime's status is understandable, especially considering how beautiful animated shorts like "The Road Not Taken" are. In turn, this also explains why discussion about the anime is dominant immediately after the short's premiere; its quality is of such high caliber that fans can't help but wonder what the supposed anime will look like in its final version.

It's important to mention that this short was not produced by Ufotable, the studio that announced a long-term collaboration with the franchise almost two years ago. Understandably, many on the internet are giving the animated short its flowers while expressing their concern and hope for the state of the anime's production. Many others, however, are going one way or the other, seemingly unconcerned about any animated project they're not talking about.
