Jujutsu Kaisen: Why Nobara's Return Is Still Possible
With the return of Todo and Gojo, it is likely that Nobara will also return in JJK.
This essentially means that fans will see Gojo vs Sukuna play out once again, and that the second round of this battle will have a completely different outcome.
Gojo vs Sukuna – Round 1
Gojo lost to Sukuna in his first proper fight
Gojo vs Sukuna began in Shinjuku at the very beginning of the Shinjuku Showdown arc. This battle was incredibly exciting for fans, as the two most powerful sorcerers in the world of JJK finally faced off. This flash forward was set up at the very beginning of the series, when Sukuna first took control of Yuji's body. It was Gojo who ended up taking him down back then, but a showdown between these two giants of sorcery was etched in stone. When Gojo was sealed away, fans knew that once he returned, he would play a major role in the story in one way or another.
Perhaps some may have thought it was too early for Gojo and Sukuna to fight when the battle began, however, given how quickly the story progressed and approached its end, this was the perfect stage for these two sorcerers to clash. Gojo and Sukuna faced off in Shinjuku, where Gojo launched a powerful Hollow Purple directly at Sukuna. This marked the beginning of this incredible battle that lasted for several chapters.
Through many dominance clashes and exchanges of blows, fans were left elated, witnessing this incredible battle unfold. One of the biggest strengths Jujutsu Kaisen It's the incredible action that the author manages to draw with great intensity. This intensity was amplified with each chapter of Gojo versus Sukuna, and it's safe to say that every reader was on edge throughout the entire battle. Whether it was the moments when Sukuna unleashed his Malevolent Shrine on Gojo, or when Gojo had the upper hand and victory in the palm of his hands, fans thoroughly enjoyed this battle that could have gone either way.
Farewell, Gojo Satoru! I will never forget you as long as I live.
Unfortunately, by the end of the fight, Gojo had lost his life. Sukuna, with the help of Mahoraga, managed to expand the target of his technique to the entire world and slice Gojo, bypassing his Infinity in the process. Gojo was cut into pieces, and with that, the curtain fell on the strongest modern sorcerer.
Gojo returns to the battlefield
The ghost of the strongest has returned to the battlefield in Shinjuku
Even though Gojo was considered dead by most fans, there was always a glimmer of hope that he would return later. The author made sure to keep both doors open. If Gojo had died, then the conclusion to his character arc, while not perfect, was still digestible. However, he also left clues in his story that paved the way for Gojo's return, if he chose to do so. For example, the whole "Going North or South" plot after Gojo's death gave fans the idea that one could be born again if one chose to go north.
Likewise, the whole idea of Gojo's body being transported to Shoko, someone who fans know can very well utilize the Curse Reversal technique on others and heal them, was yet another clue in sight that implied that Gojo could return later. At the same time, the author probably also knows that Gojo is the face of the series worldwide and that keeping him alive is more beneficial to the overall popularity of JJK.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Gojo Satoru's Ghost, Explained
Sukuna sees Gojo's ghost in JJK 260. Is Gojo really back or is he just a ghost?
If all of that wasn't enough, fans also knew that Gojo's character arc wasn't over and the conclusion wasn't perfect. Above all, this was the most important reason why many believed that Gojo would eventually return. In JJK Chapter 260, all of their theories turned out to be true when Gojo Satoru returned on the last page of the chapter. Just as Sukuna was struck by a powerful blow from Yuji, ripping straight through his chest and hitting his heart, he attempted to expand his domain once more. This was possible because he recharged his cursed technique, giving him access to his domain once more. This could have essentially been the end for Yuji and Todo, unless Todo was able to switch them.
Sukuna saw… what his hands buried. The ghost of the strongest!
However, right in the middle of him expanding his domain, Sukuna saw a very familiar face that he himself had buried, and this was none other than Gojo Satoru. His eyes were turned towards Sukuna, with the narrator essentially hinting that Gojo had returned.
What the second round of Gojo Vs Sukuna could look like
Gojo Vs Sukuna Round 2 Will Be Very Different
From here on out, the second round of Gojo versus Sukuna is inevitable. Fans know that this fight will be incredibly exciting, but it will be very different from the first fight in the story. For one, fans need to keep in mind that neither Gojo nor Sukuna are at the peak of their powers. While Sukuna has access to his domain, his body is far from the best. His Reverse Cursed Technique is not as good as it should be for him to win this fight, and at the same time, his Cursed Energy output has been significantly reduced. With every Black Flash he received from Yuji, he suffered terribly in battle, and now his weaknesses can be exploited.
On the other hand, Gojo probably won't be at his best either. Granted that Gojo could have been healed by Shoko and that he could probably access his domain and have his cursed technique active from the start, however, it is highly likely that Gojo will have to make a huge sacrifice to return. The Binding Vows have been heavily focused on in the last few chapters of JJKand it's entirely possible that he made one that would greatly limit his combat abilities.
This is a pivotal point in the story because if Gojo were at the peak of his powers, then dealing with a weakened Sukuna would be child's play for him. Furthermore, it will also end up taking the spotlight away from Yuji, the protagonist of the series. The author needs to craft this battle in a way that Yuji and Todo have their moments to shine against the Curse King, since this is likely the last battle in the story. As such, Gojo has to come back nerfed, or at least in a temporarily nerfed state, which would allow him to properly collaborate with Yuji in the battle against Sukuna. This would also give fans a student-teacher duo against the Curse King, and a proper conclusion to this battle.
Jujutsu Kaisen is available to read from Viz Media. The series can be read by fans officially and for free in Shonen Jump and Manga Plus application. The release date for the next chapter of JJK, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 261, is set for May 26, 2024.
