Gotoubun no Hanayome will be back in September

On the official website for the anime adaptation of “Gotoubun no Hanayome (The Quintessential Quintuplets)” a new promotional visual has been revealed for the special “Gotoubun no Hanayome *“. The press release listed that the premiere is scheduled for Next September 20th in cinemas in Japan (and which will air on television later) and lists information about the theme songs, including:

  • The main cast consists of Ayana Taketatsu, Ayane Sakura, Inori Minae, Kana Hanazawa and Miku Itou will present the opening theme entitled “Gotoubun no Egao“, as well as the closing theme titled “Memories“.

As previously reported, manga author Negi Haruba was responsible for the story concept and oversaw all aspects of this upcoming special. which will narrate Futaro Uesugi's honeymoon trip with the quintuplets (yes, with all of them, although the winner was Yotsuba Nakano).

Gotoubun no Hanayome

On the other hand, Negi Haruba published the manga in the magazine Weekly Shonen Magazine from the publisher Kodansha between August 2017 and February 2020, with a total of fourteen compilation volumes. The work inspired a twelve-episode anime adaptation produced by Tezuka Productions and released in Winter-2019 (January to March)followed by a second season in Winter-2021 and a film in May 2022, both produced by Bibury Animation Studios and with which the main story ended.

Synopsis of Gotoubun no Hanayome

Fuutarou Uesugi is an excellent high school student, but he has a difficult life. His aloof personality and reclusive nature have left him friendless, and his father is in debt, forcing his family to struggle to make ends meet. One day during lunch break, Uesugi gets into an argument with a transfer student who has claimed “his place,” causing the two to dislike each other. That same day, she comes across a golden opportunity to pay off her family’s debt: a job as a private tutor for the daughter of a wealthy family, at a salary five times the market rate. He accepts the offer, but is horrified to discover that the client, Itsuki Nakano, is the girl he confronted earlier!

After unsuccessfully trying to get Itsuki's approval, Uesugi discovers that his problems don't end there: Itsuki is actually a quintuplet, so in addition to her, he must also tutor her sisters: Miku, Yotsuba, Nino, and Ichika. —who, despite the very real threat of failing, want nothing to do with a tutor. However, his family's livelihood is at stake, so Uesugi presses on, steadfast in his determination to rid his sisters of their hatred for studies and successfully lead them to graduation.
