One of the points that has generated speculation is the possibility of announcing the long-awaited second season of the anime. In May of this year, a leak emerged claiming that the second season of “Grand Blue” was already in production. However, since then there has been no official confirmation from the studios or the production team, leaving fans in suspense. This upcoming event on September 29th seems like the perfect occasion for the information to finally be confirmed.

If the news is true, the second season would arrive after a long wait. Let's remember that the first season of the anime aired in 2018, and since then there have been no new animated episodes. Additionally, the live-action film “Grand Blue” was released in 2020, so more than four years have passed without any significant new content from the franchise in audiovisual format.

The “Grand Blue” franchise has enjoyed great popularity since its debut. The anime, based on the manga by Kenji Inoue and Kimitake Yoshioka, won over audiences with its irreverent humor and its college lifestyle full of parties and absurd situations. Although the manga continues to be published successfully, the lack of a second season has been a source of constant discussion among fans, who hope to see more adventures of Iori Kitahara and his friends in their chaotic journey through college life and diving.

Grand Blue Synopsis

Iori Kitahara moves to the coastal city of Izu for his first year of university and settles into his uncle's Grand Blue diving shop. Iori has high hopes and dreams of having the ideal college experience, but upon entering the shop he finds himself drawn into the alcoholic activities of the carefree Diving Club members who frequent the shop. Persuaded by seniors Shinji Tokita and Ryuujirou Kotobuki, Iori reluctantly joins their oddball group.

His cousin Chisa Kotegawa later walks in and catches him in the act, earning Iori her utter contempt. Based on the popular comic manga by Kenji Inoue and Kimitake Yoshioka, Grand Blue follows Iori's misadventures with his eccentric new friends as he strives to achieve his ideal college dream while learning to scuba dive.
