On the official website of the anime adaptation of the manga written and illustrated by Iro Aida“Hanako-kun stuck in the toilet (Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun)”, a new promotional video for the second season of the project has been revealed. The video confirms that this second season will be titled “Hanako-kun Academy Summer Festival Kamome in the bathroom” and that the premiere is scheduled for the period of Winter-2025 (January-March) in Japan.

Additionally, it was also announced that the four-episode adaptation of the spin-off “After school Hanako-kun (Houkago Shounen Hanako-kun)” will be released on Next October 7th in Japan.

Aida began publishing the manga in the magazine Monthly G Fantasy from the publisher Square Enix in June 2014. The work inspired a twelve-episode anime adaptation produced by the studios Lercheunder the direction of Masaomi Andou and scripts written by Yasuhiro Nakanishireleased on Winter-2020 (January to March).

• Masaki Kitamura (Akatsuki no Yona, Ergo Proxy, TIGER AND RABBIT) was in charge of directing the first season at the studios Lerche.
• Kazuma Nagatomo He was responsible for writing and supervising the scripts for the first season.
• Aya Higami (HIGH CARD, Gakkou Gurashi!, Shoujo☆Kageki Revue Starlight Movie) was responsible for character design and animation direction in the first season.
• Hiroshi Takaki (Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun, Denki-Gai no Honya-san, Dokidoki! Precure, go! Princess Precura) was in charge of composing the soundtrack for the first season.

Synopsis of Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun

The famous “Seven Wonders” that every school seems to have are a staple of Japanese urban legends. One of the most well-known is that of Hanako-san: the ghost of a girl who haunts the school bathrooms. Kamome Academy has its own version of the Hanako-san legend. Rumor has it that if one can summon Hanako-san, she will grant any wish the summoner has. Lured by the gossip, many have tried to summon her, but all attempts have failed.

However, when Nene Yashiro, a girl with romantic hopes, dares to summon Hanako-san, she discovers that the supposed “girl” is actually a boy! After a series of unfortunate events related to Nene’s romantic desires, she unwittingly becomes involved in the world of the supernatural, becoming Hanako-kun’s assistant. He soon discovers Hanako-kun’s lesser-known duty: to maintain the fragile balance between mortals and apparitions.
