House of Lee an anime about martial arts legend Bruce Lee, has released its first teaser.

As reported by the website Deadline, the preview is directed by Emily Yang, co-founder of content platform Shibuya.

According to the synopsis, the project is “an action/fantasy series that finds Bruce Lee fighting to reunite his Dragon Warriors before the world plunges too far into darkness and shadow.”

It will be inspired by Lee's quote "Those who do not know they are walking in darkness will never seek the light." A full trailer will be released later this year to coincide with the 50th anniversary of Lee's most highly regarded film, Enter the Dragon with the series scheduled to be released in 2024.

The Legend of Bruce Lee Continues

The series is created by Shannon Lee, Bruce's daughter, who has since become a producer in her own right.

“Anime is an incredible medium to tell a truly creative story where Bruce Lee can be Bruce Lee,” she said of the project. “I’m really excited about the possibilities for action, fantasy, history, culture and creativity in this medium.”

Shannon chose to partner with Shibuya for House of Lee based on the company's previous animated short White rabbit. “I love Emily and Shibuya’s perspective,” she explained.

“They are such creative, hard-working and skilled artists with an incredible brand that I knew they would be perfect collaborators.

The organic way it all happened spoke volumes about our potential collaboration and it’s been great!”

Yang herself described what drew her to the project. “I found myself immediately resonating with the narrative as it touches on themes of spirituality, battling your inner demons, and so many aspects of the AAPI experience,” she said.

“Being such a personal story, Shannon really wanted to maintain creative control and ownership.

At Shibuya, our mission is to help creators do just that, so I knew this was something we had to be a part of.”

Shannon Lee is an executive producer of Warrior, a martial arts crime drama based on the writings of Bruce Lee that is currently airing its third season on Max. She has starred in films such as High voltage, Enter the Eagles and Era. She also participated in two documentaries about her father, I'm Bruce Lee in 2012 and Be water in 2020, as an interviewee and producer.

House of Lee is scheduled for release in 2024. Enter the Dragon will return to theaters for its 50th anniversary on August 13 and 16.
