The popular action-adventure manga “HUNTER x HUNTER,” created by Yoshihiro Togashi, will return to Weekly Shonen Jump magazine after nearly two years of absence. As revealed in a recent live broadcast, The series will be republished in the October 7, 2024 issue of Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. (although it leaks sooner). This return marks Togashi's first release since his last hiatus in December 2022.

The announcement of the return of “HUNTER x HUNTER” comes accompanied by the news that the manga will receive a new volume, the first since 2022, with 208 pages of previously published chapters. In recent months, Togashi has shown unusual activity, sharing in July that he had completed chapter 402, followed quickly by the announcement that chapter 403 was also completed just 24 hours later.
The return of “HUNTER x HUNTER” generated great expectations among fans, who patiently awaited the outcome of the story. The series, known for its complex plot and deep characters, has been one of the most influential in the world of manga, and its return to the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump is a significant event in the industry.
It's interesting to note that the return of “HUNTER x HUNTER” comes just one week after the end of “Jujutsu Kaisen,” another of the most popular series of recent years. Although there is no official confirmation, many speculate that publisher Shueisha may have influenced Yoshihiro Togashi's decision to resume his work just as one of his most successful series, “Jujutsu Kaisen,” is in its final stretch.
“Jujutsu Kaisen” has been one of the most profitable and popular franchises in recent years, even surpassing “One Piece” in recent sales. With its imminent closure, Shueisha faced the possibility of losing one of its biggest draws in Weekly Shonen Jump, a magazine that has historically relied on high-caliber titles to maintain its dominant position in the industry. In this context, The return of “Hunter x Hunter” can be seen as a strategy by the publisher to maintain reader interest, ensuring that another big-name series takes the place of “Jujutsu Kaisen”.
