Highlights

  • Hufflepuff students apparently have difficulty using the bathroom at Hogwarts Legacy, requiring long walks to the bathrooms closest to the common room.
  • A Reddit user highlighted the disparity between Hufflepuff and other houses in terms of bathroom accessibility.
  • While in-universe students may have a hard time relieving themselves, at least Hufflepuff players can experience a fun and unique quest in Hogwarts Legacy.

Hogwarts Legacy allows its players to step into the life of a student at Hogwarts Castle from the Harry Potter franchise, going through many of the same rituals as in the books and films, such as the Sorting Ceremony. While players can be sorted into Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, or Hufflepuff houses, one player discovered that Hogwarts Legacy does not treat all of his students the same when it comes to hygiene.

The Hufflepuff Common Room is located in the basement of Hogwarts Castle, next to the kitchens. While positive traits of Hufflepuff students include kindness and loyalty, their friendly nature can lead to some difficulties, which in this case seem to be built right into the castle's plumbing plans.

Hogwarts Legacy's emphasis on combat shouldn't be lost in its sequel

Hogwarts Legacy had many strengths, but its emphasis on combat was a defining feature and one that shouldn't be lost in a potential sequel.

A Redditor has noticed that Hufflepuff students are at a disadvantage when it comes to a major quality of life issue – access to a bathroom. Redditor ina_rs shared a split-screen video to the platform that shows how long it takes to run from the Hufflepuff common room to two of the closest bathrooms in the castle, and even sped up significantly, the video takes 26 seconds, as the player character runs up and down several flights of stairs in the castle’s basement before finally reaching the bathroom. The bathroom on the right side of the screen is reached a few seconds before the end of the video, but to make matters worse, it appears to be the dreaded Chamber of Secrets bathroom. Although the video starts in one of the bedrooms, it appears that it takes over 100 full-speed steps for a player character to reach the bathroom closest to the common room’s main entrance.

Hogwarts bathrooms are hard to reach for Hufflepuffs

Other players have pointed out that some other Hogwarts students have access to bathrooms built directly into their common areas. Ravenclaw house depicted in Hogwarts Legacy have full bathrooms with bathtubs, showers, sinks and toilets installed directly in their student accommodation, as does Gryffindor, although their bathrooms are only accessible by climbing the stairs on the girls' side of the dormitories. While basement-dwelling Slytherin does not have a built-in bathroom, there is one not far from the entrance. Some others have even pointed out the well-documented tradition that before Muggle plumbing was installed around 1700, students and staff would relieve themselves in the hallways and use Evanesco, the Vanishing Charm, to clean them.

While the lack of bathrooms near the common room may make seasoned RPG players choose a different house, not everything is bad in Hufflepuff. After all, Hogwarts Legacy The Hufflepuff-exclusive quest is the only way for players to see the famous wizarding prison of Azkaban depicted in the game.
