Most of the battles in Naruto are among ninjas who use various types of jutsu. Most jutsu are element-based techniques, but there is also a whole subcategory of jutsu that revolves around eye techniques. Every ocular jutsu uses one eye to perform a ninja technique, and each technique appears to be the byproduct of a Kekkei Genkai or Kekkei Mora.

The strongest eye socket Eye jutsu typically have great offensive potential. That said, some of the strongest eye jutsu are primarily used for defense. Many of these jutsu belong to the genjutsu family, but some are ninjutsu techniques. An eye jutsu typically targets one person, but some can target multiple people at once. 10 Amenotejikara allows the user to swap places with objects

First used in Naruto Shippuden Episode 424: “To Rise Up”

Amenotejikara is a rare eye jutsu which can only be unlocked by a special Rinnegan. Hagormo Otsutsuki, also known as the Sage of Six Paths, entrusted this jutsu to Sasuke Uchiha. It allows Sasuke to switch places with any object or person. This is a great defensive jutsu because the user can essentially dodge any enemy attack instantly.

Amenotejikara also has offensive capabilities. Sasuke can strike other individuals and force them to switch places with objects. He can transport a weapon to his hand at any time and can even send techniques such as the Chidori to another location. If an enemy fires a jutsu at Sasuke, Amenotejikara can cause the enemy to be struck by it. Even someone as powerful as Isshiki Otsutsuki admitted this Amenotejikara is very difficult to deal with.

9 Ninjutsu absorption can absorb any type of chakra

First used in Naruto Shippuden Episode 132: “In the Presence, The Six Paths of Pain”

Pain and Madara are two of the Narutoof the best villains, and they showed just how powerful the Rinnegan can be. The Preta Path can apparently be used by any Rinnegan user and gives access to the Ninjustu Absorption Technique. This ocular jutsu nullifies all other forms of ninjutsu. That said, it is much less effective against genjutsu and taijutsu.

The user can absorb any technique based on Ninjutsu because they can absorb any type of chakra while the jutsu is active. They can even absorb Sage chakra, but the user risks turning to stone if they absorb too much of it. When the Ninjutsu Absorption Technique is active, an invisible dome protects the user. It is a type of ultimate defense that can render a Rasenshuriken and Dust Release useless.

8 Kotoamatsukami produces subtle mind control

First used in Naruto Shippuden Episode 201: “Painful Decision”

Kotoamatsukami is considered one of the Sharingan's best abilities. According to Itachi, Kotoamatsukami is a genjutsu of the highest caliber. At its core, it is a mind control technique, but it is quite subtle. The target is usually unaware that they are being manipulated and believes that all of their actions are the result of their own free will.

Kotoamatsukami is usually used on a single person, but can also be used on multiple targets at once. Danzo used it to manipulate the Kage at the Five Kage Summit, and Shisui planned to use it on multiple Uchiha at once. Kotoamatsukami is, in fact, strong enough to negate the control aspect of the Reanimation Jutsu. Once Kotoamatsukami is used, it cannot be used again for at least a decade, but this drawback can be negated if the user possesses Hashirama Senju's cells.

7 The Target's Perception of Time, by Tsukuyomi Alter

First used in Naruto Episode 82: “Eye to Eye: Sharingan vs. Sharingan!”

Tsukuyomi can only be used by someone who possesses a Mangekyo Sharingan. It was first used during the Tsunade Search Arc, where it managed to incapacitate Kakashi Hatake – a future Hokage – for several days. In order for Tsukuyomi to take effect, the user must make direct eye contact with the opponent. Once this condition is met, the user can trap their opponent in a powerful illusion of their own making.

Tsukuyomi alters the target's perception of time. In most cases, the user can force the target to go through days of perceived physical torture in just a few seconds. The user can similarly inflict mental torture, forcing their target to see the same traumatic event over and over again. Most individuals are left in a coma-like state when Tsukuyomi is deactivated. This ocular jutsu can be powerful, but it puts a lot of strain on the user's eyes.

6 Kamui allows the user to distort space

First used in Naruto Shippuden Episode 29: “Enlightened Kakashi!”

• Known users: Obito Uchiha, Kakashi Hatake, Madara Uchiha

Obito and Kakashi awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan when they witnessed Rin's death, and both gained access to a version of Kamui. This space-time ninjutsu allows the user to transport objects to another dimension. The right eye uses a short-range version of Kamui. With this version, the user can trap others in the Kamui Dimension through physical contact. This version of Kamui allows the user to become intangible..

The left eye produces a long-range version of Kamui. With it, the user can focus on a single object and distort the surrounding space until it is sent into the Kamui Dimension. This version of Kamui can stop projectiles in flight and can be used to target specific parts of the body. If used on a body part, the user can permanently maim or mortally wound their target. If both eyes are used in unison, Kamui's teleportation speed increases and the user can create portals between dimensions.

5 Izanagi can rewrite reality

First used in Naruto Shippuden Episode 209: “Danzo’s Right-Hand Man”

• Known users: Madara Uchiha, Danzo Shimura, Obito Uchiha

Izanagi is a secret eye jutsu that belongs to the Uchiha clan, but can technically be used by anyone as long as they have access to Hashirama's cells. Most genjutsu techniques create illusions by targeting a person's senses, but Izanagi casts an illusion over reality itself. While active, the user has full control over what is real, even being able to alter parts of the environment.

Izanagi is typically used for protection. If the user suffers a fatal wound, Izanagi can reverse all damage. If an attack is about to kill the user, they can activate Izanagi at the last second to reverse their death. In this scenario, the dead user's body dematerializes and a new, uninjured version instantly materializes. Izanagi is classified as a forbidden eye jutsu because the user permanently loses vision in the eye used to cast it.

4 Amaterasu produces inextinguishable black flames

First used in Naruto Episode 85: “Hatred Among the Uchiha: The Last of the Clan!”

A standard Fire Release ninjutsu technique can burn many things, but Amaterasu can burn anything, including fire. This deadly technique can only be used by someone who has awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan. Amaterasu puts a lot of stress on the user's eyes - to the point where their eyeballs literally bleed. That said, it is a technique that can kill anyone, as long as the target is unable to absorb the ninjutsu.

Amaterasu creates black flames at the focal point of the user's vision. As a result, it is very difficult to dodge. These flames cannot be extinguished unless they are sealed, but the user can also extinguish them. Amaterasu's flames will continue to burn until the target is incinerated. It has the power to defeat a Kage and a fully released Tailed Beast.

3 Susanoo is the Uchiha clan's greatest weapon.

It is considered the strongest ability of the Mangekyo Sharingan. Susanoo has different forms, but when perfected, the user can create a colossal samurai-like avatar with their chakra.

Susanoo's body protects the user from most external attacks, and its arms are capable of weaving hand signs. There are different variations of Susanoo, but each uses some sort of ranged or melee weapon. These weapons have the power to alter entire landscapes. At first glance, Susanoo does not look like a traditional eye jutsu, but it falls into that category.

2 Shinra Tensei can destroy an entire village

First used in Naruto Shippuden Episode 157: “”Assault on Leaf Village!””

• Known users: Madara Uchiha, Nagato, Sasuke Uchiha, Hagoromo Otsutsuki

The Deva Path allows the Rinnegan user to manipulate attractive and repulsive forces. Shinra Tensei is the ultimate ability of the Deva Path. The user generates a repulsive force around their body with their chakra. As a result, the user can push anything away from them. Needless to say, this is a great defensive jutsu. Shinra Tensei can block certain ninjutsu and completely neutralizes melee and weapon-based attacks.

Shinra Tensei's power is based on the amount of chakra used. At higher levels, it can severely injure a giant toad like Gamabunta and send it flying away. It can do the same to a jinchuriki using a small tailed beast transformation. With enough chakra, a single push from Shinra Tensei has enough power to destroy the Hidden Leaf Village. The only catch is that the user usually has to wait five seconds before they can use Shinra Tensei again.

1 The Infinite Tsukuyomi can trap the entire world in a Genjutsu

First used in Naruto Shippuden Episode 425: “The Infinite Dream”

The Infinite Tsukuyomi is without a doubt the strongest ocular genjutsu in existence. It can be cast in a variety of ways, but always requires a Rinne-Sharingan. The user reflects their Rinne-Sharingan onto the surface of the moon. The reflection creates a brilliant, piercing light that covers the entire world, and every human and animal is trapped in a dream world.

While the genjutsu is active, the victims' chakra is gradually drained until they die. Those who survive the chakra drain transform into White Zetsu. Rinnegan users and reanimated ninja are immune to the Infinite Tsukuyomi. Only a Rinnegan user and the combined power of the tailed beasts can release the genjutsu.
