As he grew more experienced, he warned his father that invasions and new wars caused the Kages to make big decisions that could put innocents at risk. Naruto needed to retreat. This was also seen in the Toneri fight, where they wanted to blow up the moon. This would have killed Naruto and Hinata. Fortunately, Naruto showed more courage thanks to Boruto's words of wisdom. He didn't break the rules, but he broke them as Kakashi taught him. This completed this three-way circle, because Boruto also learned a lot from Kakashi.

Naruto did just that, which is why in his absence, Shikamaru now serves as acting Hokage. Shikamaru remained grateful to Boruto for believing in him. This led to them having a secret alliance in Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes era, as Shikamaru tries to help break Konoha's brainwashing. Boruto also liked the pacifist message. He used it against enemies like Sumire. Over time, Boruto demonstrated the benefits and how they enhanced ninjutsu. This helped Naruto grow even closer to Katasuke and the science team. People like Shikamaru were nihilistic about Sasuke's redemption. But Naruto stood up for Sasuke even more, even against the council and the Kages. Boruto knew that once the public saw Naruto praising Sasuke as a hero and Ranger of the new age, everyone would believe him. It was a clever tactic that worked. Boruto made his father believe in the youth more. Sure, the era of peace and order could be disrupted by chaos. But that's life. Boruto reminded Naruto that he couldn't control everything. This led to the chunin and genin being given more important missions and proving their worth to Naruto.
