The popular anime “Makeine: Many lost heroines!“, currently broadcast and produced by Images A-1left fans intrigued by announcing that its final episode will be a filler episode. This unexpected twist is rare in the anime industry, as filler episodes typically appear mid-season but are rarely used to conclude a series. This last episode, number 12, will be completely original and will begin airing from September 28, 2024.

The announcement was accompanied by a new promotional visual starring Chika Komari, one of the series' "loser heroines." In the image, Komari can be seen standing near a window in the literature club room, looking at the viewer with a melancholic expression. In the background, it is possible to make out silhouettes that appear to be of other important characters, such as Koto Tsukinoki and Shintarou Tamaki, suggesting that the episode will have moments of reflection between several of the characters.

Makeine: Muitas heroínas perdidas!

This unexpected final episode was written under the direct supervision of the light novels' creator, Takibi Amamori, who was responsible for developing the anime's original script. The working title for the episode is “Am I the secondary character who appears out of nowhere next to the heroine in the final episode?“. This humorous title reflects the satirical tone that characterizes the series, which constantly plays with the expectations of fans of the romantic genre.

In episode 11, which aired on September 21, the story reached its climax as Komari was finally able to find peace with herself after her heartbreak. At the same time, protagonist Kazuhiko Nukumizu was appointed president of the literature club, which seemed to set the stage for a satisfying conclusion. However, the announcement of an additional episode and its filler character generated excitement and curiosity among anime fans.

This type of episode is unusual in that in most series, original episodes created outside of the source material are placed between main narrative arcs or used to lighten the tone before a climax. Instead, “Makeine: Many Lost Heroines!” opted to wrap up its main story with an episode entirely based on new ideas, something that, while risky, could be an innovative way to keep you interested until the end.

Makeine Synopsis: Many lost heroines!

Despite not understanding much about fleeting teenage romances, first-year high school student Kazuhiko Nukumizu still wonders how he would react if his life became a love story. Despite everything, as a self-proclaimed “background character,” Nukumizu is content to continue his introverted life with a negligible social life. However, he suddenly finds himself too close to the spotlight when he witnesses his popular classmate Anna Yanami being rejected by her childhood friend in the middle of a family restaurant.

While Nukumizu wants to forget what she saw and move on, Anna ends up confiding in Nukumizu by force, lamenting her condition as a childhood friend doomed to have her lover stolen from her. Caught up in Anna's situation, Nukumizu soon finds himself caught up in the romantic drama of two other girls: Lemon Yakishio, an outgoing member of the track club, and Chika Komari, a shy member of the literature club. Nukumizu steps out of her comfort zone and becomes an important character in the lives of many loser heroines.
