Mashle: Magic and Muscles anime announces another sequel

During a special event for the anime adaptation of the manga written and illustrated by Hajime KoumotoMashle: Magic and Muscles“, the production of a new sequel to the project was announced. In turn, Koumoto began publishing the manga “MASHLE: Magic and Muscles”via magazine Weekly Shonen Jump from the publisher Shueisha in January 2020 and completed in July 2023, compiling the work in a total of eighteen volumes. The anime adaptation by Images A-1 totals twenty-four episodes so far, and Since its announcement it was stated that the intention was to adapt the entire work.

Production team

  • Tomoya Tanaka (HUNTER x HUNTER (2011), Engage Kiss, Visual Prison) is in charge of directing the anime at the studios Images A-1.
  • Yousuke Kuroda (My Hero Academia, High School of the Dead, Btooom!) is responsible for writing and supervising the scripts.
  • Hisashi Toujima (Enen no Shouboutai, High School Fleet Movie, Bem Movie: Become Human) is responsible for character design and animation direction.
  • Masaru Yokoyama (Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso, Horimiya, Plastic Memories) is responsible for composing the soundtrack.

Synopsis of Mashle: Magic and Muscles

To everyone else in this magically-ridden world, the young and powerless Mash Vandead is a threat to their genetic heritage and must be purged. Living secretly in the forest, he spends every day training his body, building muscles strong enough to compete with magic itself. However, finding his identity exposed and his peaceful life threatened, Mash begins his journey to become a “divine seer,” a role so powerful that society will have no choice but to accept his existence.

So, to maintain her peaceful life, the magic-free Mash enrolls in the prestigious Easton Academy of Magic, competing with the children of some of the kingdom's most powerful and elite. Without the skills needed to survive at Easton, magic, Mash seems to already be at a disadvantage compared to her classmates. To achieve her goals, Mash will have to fight through each trial using only her fists, overcoming magic with her muscles, all for the illustrious title of Divine Visionary!
