Masahiro Shinohara, the new director of Re:Zero Season 3 clarified what fans can expect from the upcoming season in a recent interview with Anime Corner.

Shinohara, who is taking over the role previously held by Masaharu Watanabe, expressed the excitement and immense pressure he felt in leading a popular series like Re:Zero.

I was asked to become the new director, and for a popular series like Re:Zero, there was a lot of pressure to live up to its reputation. But I think just as we went from Season 1 to Season 2, I wanted to keep that same momentum going as we went into Season 3.

However, he revealed his intention to kick off the new season with a powerful opening that will set the tone for what's to come.

Instead of trying to keep things relatively calm or not push too hard in the first episode, I wanted to do the opposite and really build on it and make sure that season three started strong and stayed strong.

One of the notable aspects Shinohara highlighted about the third season is the increased focus on characters beyond the protagonist, Subaru Natsuki, and his group.

The director revealed that the next season will give more screen time and development to the other groups and characters in the series, as he felt that previous seasons did not provide as many opportunities for these characters to shine.

So in season 3, it's not just about Subaru and the Subaru camp. The other camps are also brought into the fold and will be brought to the forefront so that they're also in the spotlight. So it's not just about Subaru — the other camps and the other characters will have more of a chance to shine. And I think in the previous season there weren't as many opportunities for that.

Shinohara hopes these changes will be well received by fans.
