During the event Anime Expo 2024 It has been announced that the anime adaptation of the manga written and illustrated by Yana Toboso“Black Butler (Kuroshitsuji)”, will have a fifth season titled “Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc”which will premiere in 2025 in Japan. According to a statement, production remains in the hands of the studios CloverWorks.

On the other hand, Toboso started publishing the manga in the magazine Monthly G Fantasy from the publisher Square Enix in September 2006. To date, a total of four anime seasons have been produced, totaling 57 episodes, and premiered on October-2008, July-2010, July-2014 and April-2024. The latter changed animation studios, moving from A-1 Pictures to CloverWorks.

Black Butler Synopsis

Young Ciel Phantomhive is known as the “Queen’s Guard Dog,” as he is responsible for the many disturbing events that occur throughout Victorian England for Her Majesty. With the help of Sebastian Michaelis, his loyal butler with seemingly inhuman abilities, Ciel uses any means necessary to get the job done. But is there more to this black-clad butler than meets the eye?

Ciel's past is a tragedy that has left him in perpetual darkness: during one of his darkest moments, he made a contract with Sebastian, a demon, trading his soul in exchange for revenge against those who threatened him. Now, Sebastian is not only a great butler, but also the perfect servant to do his master's bidding, while patiently awaiting the delicious meal he will eventually prepare with Ciel's soul.
