Talented artist Shiro Usazaki has confirmed her return to the manga industry with a new series serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, which marks his first major project since the cancellation of “Act-Age” in August 2020. Usazaki, known for her impressive work on the aforementioned manga, has made several one-shots in recent years, such as “Engan no Cyclops” in 2020, “Ryuu no Eigakan” in 2022 and “Kimi to Aoi Yoru no” in 2023. However, his new work titled “Madan no Ichi,” written by Osamu Nishi, author of the popular manga “Mairimashita! Iruma-kun,” marks a return to full serialization.

Official announcement reveals that “Madan no Ichi” will begin serialization in the next issue of Weekly Shonen Jumpscheduled to go on sale on September 9 in Japan, although it is likely that, as is often the case, details will leak before the official release date. So far, no information has been released about the synopsis of this new story, which has generated great expectations among fans.
Shiro Usazaki was at the center of controversy in 2020 when “Act-Age,” a work he masterfully illustrated, was abruptly canceled after screenwriter Tatsuya Matsuki was arrested on charges of sexually abusing minors. The cancellation of “Act-Age” was a hard blow for the artist, as the manga was achieving great success and emerging as one of the most promising series in Shonen Jump.
Since then, Usazaki has demonstrated his resilience through his work on several one-shots that have received praise for both their artistic style and the sensitivity with which they approach complex themes. However, his fans have been eagerly awaiting his return to a serialized project, and “Madan no Ichi” promises to be the rebirth of a career that was abruptly cut short.
The fan community has shown great enthusiasm for this new project, highlighting the collaboration between Usazaki and Osamu Nishi, whose series “Mairimashita! Iruma-kun” has been a success in both its manga and anime adaptation. As the release date approaches, more details about “Madan no Ichi” will likely be revealed, but for now, anticipation continues to build.
