The movie My Hero Academia is a success

A press release reported that “My Hero Academia: You're Next“, the fourth original film in the “My Hero Academia“, sold 608,500 tickets and grossed approximately 895 million yen in its first three days in theaters in Japan, reaching the first position in the profit ranking.

This isn't entirely surprising for a "My Hero Academia" movie, especially since the film premiered a few days before the release of the original manga's final chapter. Additionally, the franchise's cinematic universe has a different timeline than the original.so it's an opportunity for fans to enjoy a surprise narrative from the author.

For this film, the original manga creator Kohei Horikoshi served as general supervisor and original character designer. The film presents an original story set in the same era as the television anime, with the collapse of the safe society. In the film, a mysterious giant fortress and a man resembling the ancient “Symbol of Peace” suddenly appear in a society that has collapsed due to war.

In turn, Horikoshi began publishing the manga “My Hero Academia“in the magazine Weekly Shonen Jump from the publisher Shueisha in July 2014 and ended in August 2024. The anime adaptation produced by the studios BONES has been running since April 2016, inspiring a total of six seasons to date and a seventh currently airing.
