In an exciting update, it was revealed that Shun Umezawa's character The Darwin Incident The manga will receive an anime adaptation. The news was confirmed on the cover of the next issue of Tarde Mensal nº 7/2024.

Further details about the anime adaptation, such as the animation studio and release date, have not yet been revealed.

The Darwin Incident is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Shun Umezawa. It has been serialized in Kodansha's seinen manga magazine Monthly Afternoon since June 2020.

In 2022, The Darwin Incident won the 15th Manga Taishō as well as the Excellence Award at the 25th Japan Media Arts Festival. The manga also received the 17th French ACBD “Asie de la Critique” Award in 2023.

Kodansha describes the manga's plot as:

The Animal Liberation Alliance, an eco-terrorist organization, rescues a pregnant chimpanzee from an animal testing lab – only for her to give birth to a half-human, half-chimp “humanzee” named Charlie! Fifteen years later, Charlie’s adoptive human parents are finally ready to send him to a normal school, where he makes his first friend: a human girl named Lucy. In the meantime, however, the ALA’s stance has become increasingly extreme, and now they’re here to drag Charlie into their terrorist plot…
