Japanese people celebrated Pantsu Day

August 2nd is known in Japan as “Pantsu Day” (Pantsu no Hi)date that internet users took advantage of to share countless illustrations with the official hashtag #パンツの日. This celebration dates back to 1984, when underwear manufacturer Isogai Fuhaku Kogyo (now known as Isokai) established this date in honor of one of its branded products. Later, a suit manufacturer in Osaka Prefecture also adopted August 2 as “Pantsu Day” due to the phonetic association between “Pa (8)” and “Ntsu (2)”.
The main objective of this celebration is to encourage the purchase and donation of underwear among couples and families. Over the years, it has become an opportunity for artists and fans to share their illustrations and creations related to women's underwear.
This year, as usual, the online community flooded social media with their drawings and designs, celebrating the creativity and ingenuity of artists. However, due to the erotic tone of many of these illustrations, we will not be able to share as many images as we would like, as Google could penalize us if we “cross the line.”
Despite this, “Pantsu Day” continues to be a much-anticipated and celebrated holiday in Japan, highlighting the influence of popular culture and art in the daily lives of Internet users.
