Today marks five years since the anime adaptation of “Do you love your mom and her two-hit multi-target attacks?“, also known as “Okaasan Online“, premiered in Japan, leaving a lasting impression on anime and light novel fans.

The story revolves around Masato Oosuki, a teenager who finds himself in an unusual situation when he joins his mother, Mamako, in an online fantasy MMORPG game. What begins as an accident after completing a seemingly trivial research soon turns into an adventure where Mamako not only accompanies him, but also becomes a powerful swordswoman, capable of attacks that hit multiple targets with just two hits. Joining them are the merchant Porta and the wise Sage, forming a diverse team on their journey to finish the game.

The story went viral at the time due to its unusual premise and fan speculation about a possible romance between the protagonist and his mother, an idea that sparked a lot of interest and debate. However, the series chose to maintain a comedic family adventure approach without developing a romantic relationship between the two main characters.

The original light novels concluded over four years ago, which caused fans who were hoping for a second season to lose hope in its realization. Despite this, the anime continues to be remembered for its unique humor and family bonds explored in a refreshing way within the fantasy genre.
