Recently, an intense debate was generated on social media after a Facebook page described “hypocrites” for those who hate “Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation”. The controversy arose when the aforementioned page pointed out that one of the main criticisms from haters centers on the fact that Rudeus Greyrat, the protagonist of the series, gets three wives in the original story. The page criticized that while Rudeus is criticized for this situation, other characters like Tengen Uzui from “Kimetsu no Yaiba” are applauded simply because “he is attractive.”

“Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation” It has been the target of several criticisms since its debut. Among the main complaints is the behavior of the protagonist, Rudeus Greyrat. In his past life, Rudeus was 34 years old when he died, meaning that although he was reborn in the body of a young man, he is still mentally an adult. This detail has led many to question the relationships he establishes with girls who, although physically his age, are mentally younger than him.
The Facebook page that sparked the controversy argued that there is a double standard in judging Rudeus for having multiple wives while applauding other characters in similar situations who are considered more attractive or charismatic by the public. Tengen Uzui, character from “Kimetsu no Yaiba”, is one of the examples mentioned. Uzui, who also has several wives, has been celebrated for his attitude and appearance, which the page considers a sign of inconsistency in fan criteria.
The debate polarized the anime community on social media. Some users defend “Mushoku Tensei” by arguing that the series is a complex reflection on life and second chances.while others find Rudeus's narrative crossing ethical boundaries problematic and unacceptable.
Criticism of “Mushoku Tensei” is not new. Since its release, the anime has been the subject of scrutiny for the portrayal of its protagonist, whose behaviors and decisions have been flagged as inappropriate and morally questionable. The current controversy adds another layer to an ongoing debate about the limits of narrative and moral standards in works of fiction.
- «Rudeus wanted to cheat on his wife with his grandmother, swore to be monogamous and faithful, and it ended up paying off, not to mention that he sexualizes his relatives and is happy with others who are not his wives. Uzui has always been polygamous and despite this, he is faithful to his wives, in addition to keeping the promises he makes to them and is respectful and a good teacher.».
- «The difference is that Uzui is the same age as his wives or is not that far from their age, both mentally, spiritually and physically, nor is he a pervert on the level of Rudeus or wants to fuck any woman who opposes him. Since he also clarifies from the beginning his point of relationship and how it will be, how they will have three wives and all that, on the other hand, Rudeus "swore" to Sylphie that she would be the only one, there is no point in comparing. Uzui is a good person in general. What is possible, the Uzui thing is clear to them from the beginning and they knew perfectly well how the relationship would be, the Rudeus thing seems like forced fanservice.».
- «Oh, starting with the illustrations of both, manga and novel, no shit, Uzui is more handsome than Rudeus, and the thing about him hating Rudeus, that's how haters are. Mushoku Tensei is such a good work that many people look for mistakes and celebrate them. As a work in itself, Mushoku Tensei is above Kimetsu no Yaiba, having read the novel and the manga respectively.».
- «I don't know, I prefer Uzui a thousand times over. Sorry guys, I can't sympathize with the guy who literally recorded his underage niece in the bathroom to masturbate later.».
- «Rudeus is a pedophile to begin with, never mind that he has the body of a teenager. He literally has the mind of a 40 year old man and how disgusting. Uzui cares and protects his wives and doesn't treat them like objects and most importantly, he is not a pedophile.».
- «Fans may argue that the first season's protagonist groped the redhead while she was sleeping, and she was about 8 years old at the time. I want to read your thoughts on this.».
- «Rudy is a mentally older man and his wives have barely reached adulthood. In Uzui's case it is quite different, as he is very handsome and can do whatever he wants.».
- «Uzui is an adult physically and mentally, his wives are also adults. Rudeus is a little green old man in a child's body. Mushokutards always wanting to justify their strange fetishes».
- «A man who values and doesn't sexualize his wives whenever he can, versus a reincarnated man (we all know his real age) who swears fidelity and then messes with two other women. There's not much to say. Uzui is far superior in that regard. While it's true that Sylphie allowed it, come on, he had no chance against those two, it was either leave him or be abandoned.».
- «Don't get me wrong, all your arguments are "he had an adult mind and life". Rudeus was an adult but mentally he was a teenager, with mental problems, socially withdrawn, he had literally everything except the normal life and mentality of an adult.».
- «Not with my baby Uzui, he values his wives and we did not see any perverted intentions in him, at no time did he sexualize his wives and he treats them very well».
- «Uzui is a character for whom there is not much context given as to why he has three wives other than the practice of monogamy and his family upbringing of having multiple wives, so they are more or less the same age. Rudeus is a reincarnated man who has already had an adult life, returning with his adult mentality to live with girls and, at first, have several of the very questionable and reprehensible scenes that someone of legal age can do. Being handsome has nothing to do with it and another difference is the personality that both have.».
