These powers often test the characters’ limits and challenge their moral compasses, while also witnessing the price the characters pay for wielding them. In this article, we’ll explore some of the forbidden powers in anime that are too dangerous to be left unchecked. So, without further ado, let’s get started.
10. Mangekyou Sharingan – Naruto

The clans' characteristic Sharingan eyes Uchiha have a reputation in the Naruto-verse and are also feared for their powers. What's worse? Their advanced form called “Mangekyo Sharingan”, once activated, grants the user access to devastating and often forbidden techniques.
Two of the most dangerous ocular jutsu of these eyes are Izanagi and Izanami, which are used to control reality and disrupt the flow. Because their activation requires the user to witness a traumatic experience, only a few Uchiha have been able to unlock their full potential.
9. Geass – Code Geass

The powers of Geass go beyond human imagination, as after acquiring this supernatural ability, a person's rather peaceful life is seriously altered. However, Geass' powers vary between users, as in Lelouch's case, it allowed him to control people's minds and do things as he commands.
While using Geass has its own benefits, it also comes with heavy restrictions or limitations that can lead to the user being consumed by it. Once the user reaches the "Runaway Geass" stage due to overuse, Geass becomes uncontrollable, making it one of the highly forbidden powers in the anime.
8. Hand of God – Berserk

Berserk arguably promotes one of the most evil groups of demon lords in anime that are pure evil. The God Hand is a band of five extraordinarily powerful demonic entities that significantly plague the course of humanity and the state of the universe.
Representing the height of malevolence, the Hand of God acts as the executor of the will of the Evil Idea and lurks wherever large concentrations of negative human thought swirl. Their existence in the realm is a testament to the price and repercussions of forbidden power.
7. Level Zero – Hellsing

Alucard, considered the strongest vampire and one of the best seinen anime protagonists, has access to a very lethal ability that can bother anyone. Of the seven forms that Alucard has, Level 0 is the most threatening, as it allows him full access to devastating powers.
Upon releasing his final state, Alucard reverts to his original form, Vlad, and commands an army of physical manifestations of every soul he has ever devoured. He frees himself from all of his restraints with all of his abilities at his disposal, but is unable to access Level 0 without Integra's permission.
6. Egyptian God Cards – Yu-Gi-Oh!

The Egyptian God Cards are unique, created by Maximillion Pegasus, who modeled them after three divine beasts from Ancient Egypt. However, after realizing that these cards were too powerful to be mass-produced, Pegasus ordered them to be buried in the Pharaoh's tomb.
As stated, these cards have a reputation for causing legitimate injury or even death to their wielder. For a similar reason, Egyptian God Cards are also banned in the real world and one cannot use these cards in official tournaments due to their limitation text stating as such.
5. Black Magic Ankhseram – Fairy Tail

Ankhseram Black Magic is a bit different from the rest of the forbidden powers in the anime due to the fact that it is a sort of curse and is inflicted on someone by the God Ankhseram rather than the person's own will. Zeref Dragneel, one of the best magic users in the anime, was gifted with this ability.
While it grants its users near-absolute immortality, it also allows them to produce a black miasma that can kill anything it touches. The side effect of Ankhseram Black Magic is that it is sometimes uncontrollable and can distort the user's mental state to a severe extent.
4. Ryuujin Jakka – Bleach

Ryuujin Jakka is the manifested spirit of Captain Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto's Zanpakuto that takes the form of a massive, blazing inferno once activated. As the oldest and most powerful fire-type Zanpakuto, Ryuujin Jakka has an immeasurable amount of offensive and spiritual power.
When unleashed to its full potential, Ryuujin Jakka's blade can incinerate anything in its path, and the heat from its flames is said to burn the sky and consume the clouds. Due to its overwhelming power and destructive nature, Yamamoto uses Ryuujin Jakka sparingly, making it one of the most forbidden anime powers.
3. Human Transmutation – Fullmetal Alchemist

Human Transmutation is a form of alchemy that supposedly brings people back to life – it sounds ridiculous, which is why it’s seen as taboo in the “Fullmetal Alchemist” world. When the Elric brothers tried to revive their mother, not only were they unable to bring her back, Ed lost an arm and a leg, and Al lost his entire body.
Even one of anime's greatest mentors, Izumi Curtis, lost some of her vital organs while trying to revive her stillborn son. These failed attempts indicate that not only is it virtually impossible to bring the dead back to life, but the cost of attempting Human Transmutation is also high.
2. Eight Inner Gates – Naruto

Naruto is blessed with so many great anime villains and heroes that it has become the lynchpin of several dangerous anime powers that can also harm their users. The Eight Inner Gates, often used by the teacher-student duo Might Guy and Rock Lee, is one such ability.
Using the Eight Gates is described as a double-edged sword, as opening the chakra pathways dramatically alters the strength and pressure within, becoming fatal to the user. Such risks have caused the technique to be categorized as a forbidden power in anime.
1. Wish Granting – Hunter × Hunter

Alluka Zoldyck wouldn’t be considered one of the strongest kids in anime if it weren’t for her “Wish Granting” ability. In her altered personality, called Nanika, Alluka can grant a wish to anyone who fulfills three of her wishes — the bigger the wish, the harder the next set of wishes will be.
However, if a person fails to fulfill Nanika's wishes four times in a row, they and their loved ones will be instantly eliminated. Since Alluka has no control over her powers, the Zoldyck family keeps her locked in a secluded room and rarely allows her wish-granting powers to be used.
