The original user contributed to the debate by pointing out that while there are many anime rated 10/10 on his MyAnimeList list, he believes that few meet all the necessary aspects to deserve that rating. He explained that, although he has enjoyed countless series, few manage to be truly perfect in terms of direction, animation, originality and meeting all the expectations established at the beginning of the story.

This comment led forum members to reflect on what elements make an anime considered “perfect.” Overall, it is suggested that direction is essential, as good direction can transform a basic narrative into an immersive experience, taking care of the details in the way the story is told. Animation also plays a crucial role; it is not just about how beautiful it is, but how the visual styles and movements come together to create a unique atmosphere that enhances the story.

Originality is another determining factor. In a saturated market, anime that manages to offer new perspectives or innovative concepts tend to stand out. This relates to a series' ability to deliver on its own narrative promises, including character development and plot resolutions in a satisfying way.

Furthermore, the emotional depth and the connection it establishes with the audience are aspects that many consider essential for an anime that aspires to be 10/10. The ability to resonate emotionally, whether through moments of joy, sadness or reflection, can be what truly solidifies a series in viewers' memories.

  • «Odd Taxi, a true police and mystery thriller from start to finish, in my opinion».
  • «Legend of the Galactic Heroes».
  • «Monster».
  • «Mob Psycho 100 and Toradora».
  • «The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.».
  • «Gurren Lagann».
  • «Steins Gate, the only show I would give 10/10».
  • «For me, Shinsekai Yori any day. It's a very dark show».
  • «Clannad: After Story. A Life-Changing Experience».
  • «Gintama».
  • «Baccano!».
  • «Haibane Renmei. It's the only show I give 11/10».
  • «Fruits Basket (the remake)».
  • «FMA: Brotherhood».
  • «Honey and Clover».
  • «Higurashi + Kai, Attack on Titan, Toradora!. These are the only shows I rated 10/10 that were finished and I couldn't name a single flaw in their execution. Technically, I would also add Death Note to that list, but it's easy to argue that it can't be perfect because it was artificially prolonged. Maybe Death Note combined with Bakuman would make a perfect story, after all, the mangaka explained his struggles with Death Note very well in Bakuman.».
  • «Sound! Euphonium».
  • «View of Escaflowne. One of the best isekai of all time».
  • «Hunter x Hunter. I would give it a 10+ if possible. The Chimera Ant Arc, in my opinion, is the best anime arc of all time.».
  • «Attack on Titan».
  • «Fate/stay night and the second season of Fate/Zero».
  • «A place beyond the universe».
  • «I give BAD a 10 like I'm handing out candy on Halloween. If I finish a show and love it, that's a 10 for me. I'll even give high ratings to shows that I know aren't amazing but I still loved (looking at you, Mai Hime). Oh, and by the way, Mai Hime predated Madoka by 7 years and did the same thing. Anyway, I definitely agree with Mushishi. Others would be A Silent Voice, Aria, SDF Macross, Utena, Evangelion, Gurren Lagann, Space Pirate Captain Harlock, Bebop, Oshi no Ko.».
  • «Samurai Champloo, Fate/Zero, Code Geass».
  • «I gave Aria, Shinsekai Yori, Death Note, AOT and Haikyuu 10/10. I think Frieren might join them soon».
  • «Great Teacher Onizuka».
  • «7 Samurai and Fushigi Yugi».
  • «I have a bunch that got 10/10, but I also round up; anything I would consider 95/100 or higher gets a 10. If we're talking about what I would give 100/100, i.e. what I consider completely perfect, then there's only one: Grave of the Fireflies.».
  • «While they're not bold or brave choices by any means, Neon Genesis and Cowboy Bebop are both 10s for me.».
