A sequel to the hit anime Tokyo Avengers was announced on June 16, 2024, to the delight of fans of the series.

The announcement came during the “Matsudo Touring,” an event celebrating the anime’s fourth anniversary and the formation of its official fan club. However, the release date and other details about the sequel have not yet been revealed.

A promotional video featuring highlights from previous seasons was also released to celebrate the announcement. Check out the video below!

Additionally, a new 5-year anniversary project for the anime was also launched at the event. The year 2025 will mark 5 years since the Tokyo Avengers anime began airing. And the first event to be announced as part of the project was a live music image called “Dachi Live.”

Observation: A live image song is a concert or live performance centered around "image songs". These are songs created specifically for characters or groups from an anime, manga, or video game series.

Tokyo Avengers is a popular anime based on the manga by author Ken Wakui. The story follows Takemichi Hanagaki, a young man who travels back in time to save his ex-girlfriend from a tragic fate.

The anime's first season premiered in April 2021, with subsequent seasons—which adapted the Christmas Showdown and Tenjiku Arcs—released in January and October 2023, respectively.

The anime has been licensed by Crunchyroll and Muse Asia for streaming outside Japan.

The manga, serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine in March 2017, has had over 70 million copies in circulation (as of December 2022). It concluded in November 2022 having published a total of 31 volumes.
