The idea behind “Mayushii's Slap” is based on a pivotal scene in the STEINS;GATE narrative, where protagonist Rintaro Okabe faces the crushing emotional burden of trying to travel back in time to prevent a tragedy. Her childhood friend, Mayushii, decides that the best way to remind her of her inner strength is with nonverbal encouragement in the form of a slap. NN Drinks captured that feeling and turned it into an energy drink.
While there's no actual physical impact involved, consuming the contents of the 50-milliliter bottle of "Mayushii's Slap" will certainly give you a jolt, as it contains 120 milligrams of caffeine, equivalent to three cups of black coffee. In addition to vitamins C, B2 and B6, the drink contains energizing ingredients such as honey, turtle extract, ginseng extract and royal jelly. Despite this, NN Drinks ensures that the flavor is fruity and easy to drink.

The label of “Mayushii Slap” is full of scientific kanji and warnings. The drink is not recommended for pregnant women, children and people in poor physical condition, as these are groups that should also not be slapped. Even for people who want to get slapped in the face, NN Drinks suggests one bottle a day, as consuming more can leave you feeling jittery instead of energized.
Additionally, fans of the STEINS;GATE series should note that the company notes that “not drinking this will result in ‘zero divergence’ of caffeine from the Beta World Line.” Since the Akihabara district of Tokyo is an important stage in STEINS;GATE“Mayushii's Slap” was first available at a special pop-up shop outside the first-floor entrance of the neighborhood's iconic Radio Kaikan building on July 29 from 10:30 a.m.
