Attack on Titan Studio to Animate Pokémon: Paldean Winds Miniseries

Entitled Pokémon: Paldean WindsWIT Studio will be handling the latest Pokémon miniseries.

The studio behind the previous seasons of Attack on Titan, Classification of Kings, and Vinland Saga was confirmed as a collaborator on the new miniseries via X (formerly Twitter).

The project will be staffed by director Ryouhei Takeshita (Jujutsu Kaisen), screenwriters Teruko Utsumi (kakegurui) and Keisuke Satou, color designer Ayaka Nakamura (Pokémon: Hisuian Snow) and art director Yuuki Funagakure (Mondaiji).

3D Director Shigenori Hirozumi (Attack on Titan), Yuuki Kawashita (Vinland Saga), prolific sound director Masafumi Mima and editor Aya Hida (Attack on Titan) and musician Kevin Penkin also make up the team.

WIT Studios Pokémon: Paldean Winds revolves around a new group of Trainers and the starter Pokémon: Quaxly, Meowscarada, and Fuecoco, all introduced in Generation IX. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

The original liquid animation is successful Pokémon: Hisuian Snow, which was also animated by WIT. “This original story will portray the youthful drama of several academy students as they develop. Growing and learning while attending school,” CEO Takato Utsunomiya revealed in Pokémon Gifts.

The trailer continues the themes of journey and self-discovery commonly found in Pokémon games and anime.

“‘A treasure of my own’? What is that?” “Something I won’t let go of.” “Something that doesn’t change.” “Something I never expected,” hints at the perspectives of Ohara, Aliquis, and Hohma, who will bring the new adaptation to life. “Now… Take a deep breath… And go out into the world.”

Pokémon: Paldean Winds to premiere on YouTube in September

Attack on Titan marks one of WIT's most notable acquisitions, but the renowned studio has been involved with Pokémon for years. 2018 Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us was made in collaboration with OLM Studios, before Pokémon: Hisuian Snow and Paldean Winds in successive years.

Fans have expressed their excitement for WIT's continued partnership with the iconic franchise, particularly praising the stunning character designs and environments. With picturesque adaptations of Classification of Kings and The Ancient Magus' Bride in WIT's portfolio, fans expect depth from one of the Pokémon largest regions.

Pokémon: Paldean Winds will span four episodes and will be available to stream via YouTube on September 6, 2023.
