Highlights
- The Sui Sui no Mi allows users to swim across any surface by transforming it into water, useful for stealth and mobility in combat.
- Users can swim along walls and surfaces, hide their presence, and even avoid falls with this Devil Fruit's unique abilities.
- Limitations include the lack of ability to breathe underwater and susceptibility to Seastone, Haki, and seawater, making users strategic in combat.
Perhaps the only fruit of its kind in Eiichiro Oda's history One piece Allowing the user to retain the ability to swim—although not in seawater—the Sui Sui no Mi is a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that was eaten by Senor Pink of the Donquixote Pirates' Diamond Army. Its abilities are as absurd as they are unique, but in the hands of a skilled assassin like Senor Pink, the Sui Sui no Mi is a deadly weapon for stealth and subterfuge.
Introduced during the Dressrosa Arc of One piece, the Sui Sui no Mi's powers were put on full display during Franky's battle against Senor Pink, where the former was trying to destroy the SMILE Factory on the island. Later in the Egghead Arc, Dr. Vegapunk replicated this Devil Fruit's abilities in the Seraph S-Shark, with the help of his new invention, called "Green Blood." Speaking of which, here's a look at what makes the Sui Sui no Mi unique and how its two users applied its abilities in combat.

Allowing the user to swim on any surface, the Sui Sui no Mi has the power to transform the texture of any substance into something resembling water at its user's will. From the ground beneath their feet to the surrounding walls, a Sui Sui no Mi user can effectively swim anywhere they wish, making them a "Free-Swimming Human" in the process.
Additionally, the Sui Sui no Mi's powers can even defy gravity to some extent, as Senor Pink could swim upwards along walls if he wanted to. Like other Paramecia-type Devil Fruits that have the power to alter the properties of external matter without an Awakening, the distortions in a substance's texture will only apply in the case of the user, and the material will retain all of its normal characteristics when others interact with it.
Once a Sui Sui no Mi user swims into a surface, the material will flow back into its previous shape without any trace of distortion remaining. Alternatively, if a user falls from a height, they will be able to break their fall by diving into the surface below with the help of their Devil Fruit powers. For Senor Pink, the Sui Sui no Mi was ideal for assassinations, as he was able to conceal his presence and move discreetly through areas.
The limitations of Sui Sui No Mi
A Sui Sui no Mi user's movement speed on a surface depends on how fast they can swim, which places considerable importance on their physical fitness and form. The Sui Sui no Mi also does not allow breathing while submerged, making it necessary for them to surface periodically to breathe.
Additionally, Sui Sui no Mi users are susceptible to conventional Devil Fruit weaknesses such as Seastone, Haki, and seawater itself. This is somewhat ironic, given that this fruit allows the user to swim through virtually any substance except seas, oceans, and other bodies of water in the Water World. One piece.
How did Señor Pink use his Devil Fruit?
Due to his role as an assassin, Senor Pink would often use his Devil Fruit abilities to swim along the ground and catch opponents by surprise from behind. What made this possible was the Sui Sui no Mi's power to completely submerge its user in the substance they were swimming through, essentially concealing their presence through this method. In addition to sneaking up on enemies, Senor Pink could easily enter enemy bases and perform assassinations with efficiency.
For combat situations, Senor Pink was depicted using his Devil Fruit to attack enemies from odd angles, swimming on surrounding surfaces or through underground structures. By virtue of his expertise in hand-to-hand combat and wrestling, Senor Pink could harness his Devil Fruit powers to increase his destructive power by a huge margin.

One Piece: Charlotte Katakuri's Mochi Mochi No Mi, Explained
A special Paramecia-type Devil Fruit with Logia-type abilities, the Mochi Mochi no Mi is a formidable weapon in the hands of Charlotte Katakuri.
One of his most powerful moves with the Sui Sui no Mi was the NyanNyan Suplex: Baby Buster, which was a suplex move that involved multiple stages. Initially, Senor Pink swam towards his prey from a distance while gaining speed, before grabbing them. He then began to gain even more momentum, after which he climbed up a vertical surface, such as the face of a building.
Upon reaching the top of the building, he used his remaining momentum to soar above the building's roof, before shifting his orientation in mid-air to use gravity to perform an incredibly powerful suplex. To avoid injuring himself, Senor Pink dove to the ground at the last moment. In the Dressrosa Arc ofOne pieceThis move was used to finish off Franky, although the cyborg managed to survive the attack and eventually emerged victorious from the fight.
Taken to a new level by S-Shark's Fishman Karate
Following his imprisonment in Impel Down alongside the rest of the Donquixote Pirates, Senor Pink's Bloodline Factor was extracted by Dr. Vegapunk for the purpose of creating Green Blood—a substance that replicates the abilities of Paramecia-type Devil Fruits. This was then infused into the body of Seraphim S-Shark, who is a clone of Jinbe.
In the hands of the S-Shark, the Sui Sui no Mi was an even more potent weapon due to its Fish-Man genes, allowing it to swim at dizzying speeds. Additionally, S-Sharks can liquefy nearby surfaces as a means of using Fish-Man Karate techniques, which adds an entirely different variety of applications to this Devil Fruit power. While it may not be best suited for direct combat when compared to other Paramecia-type Devil Fruits, the Sui Sui no Mi's unconventional abilities can be potent tools when wielded by intelligent users, as seen in both individuals who gained its abilities in One piece.
