Gojo's Cursed Techniques, Ranked by Power
Advertisement
In Jujutsu Kaisen, fans are introduced to Satoru Gojo, a special-level jujutsu sorcerer with striking blue eyes and white hair. Gojo is also a teacher at Jujutsu High, which he uses as a base. Despite his general lack of respect for his superiors and his somewhat goofy behavior, Gojo is one of the most powerful sorcerers and cursed technique users in the series. Gojo's cursed techniques surpass even the best special-level sorcerers, putting him in a league of his own.
Being a member of the Gojo family, he has inherited certain abilities through his bloodline, the most notable of which is the legendary Six Eyes. As a result of this, Gojo can come across as arrogant and judgmental when it comes to others' strengths and weaknesses. That said, Gojo is the first member of his family in four hundred years to possess two very powerful cursed techniques, cementing his reputation as the most powerful sorcerer.
Updated May 17, 2024 by Ajay Aravind: Jujutsu Kaisen There are several powerful characters, but almost all of them pale in comparison to Satoru Gojo. Sukuna is probably the only one capable of fighting him on equal terms, although that fight could end either way. At this point in the anime, however, Gojo is clearly the strongest character in JJK. As such, we have updated this article with some more relevant information.
10 The curtain is often used to create secret conditions for exorcism.
Premiere: Episode 4 “Fearsome Womb”

10 Cursed Techniques From Jujutsu Kaisen That Align Perfectly With Their User
In the world of Jujutsu Kaisen, the best combinations of Cursed Techniques with curse users make the characters and their abilities shine.
Gojo possesses an immeasurable amount of cursed energy, a prerequisite for mastering all of his techniques, both inherited and otherwise. While he is not seen using regular spells very often, Gojo is quite proficient with Curtain. This technique allows him to generate a barrier around a specific location, increasing or decreasing in size accordingly. Interestingly, those trapped within the Curtain will cause the sky to darken and cursed spirits will emerge from the shadows.
Other notable users
- Suguru Geto
- Kenjaku
- It can be done
In fact, this technique can be modified with special binding curses, such as when the villains generated a Curtain to keep only Gojo out of the Goodwill Event. That said, most sorcerers employ Curtain to create secret conditions so they can exorcise cursed spirits without prying eyes. Gojo has used Curtain a few times - most notably when accompanying Yuta on the latter's first mission. Given how common Curtain is, however, it is considered the weakest of Gojo's many abilities.
9 The Reverse Cursed Technique took Gojo a long time to learn.
Premiere: Episode 4 “Fearsome Womb”
There are two types of energy in Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed energy and positive energy. Both function as antitheses of each other, allowing sorcerers a much wider range of abilities when using them together. To achieve the Reversal Curse Technique, the user must convert the negative cursed energy into positive energy to gain access to this ability. In truth, the process is quite difficult and few sorcerers master it.
Other notable users
- Yuta Okkotsu
- Ryomen Sukuna
- Yuki Tsukumo
Gojo is one of these few, though he also thought it impossible until he became a second-year student and met Toji Fushiguro. He perfected the technique after nearly being killed by Toji Fushiguro, using it to heal fatal wounds on his neck and body. Gojo can also apply his Reverse Cursed Technique to power his Limitless Technique, further increasing its attack potential.
8 Gojo has yet to use the Black Flash technique in the anime.
Premiere: Episode 19 “Black Flash”

10 Cursed Techniques From Jujutsu Kaisen That Align Perfectly With Their User
In the world of Jujutsu Kaisen, the best combinations of Cursed Techniques with curse users make the characters and their abilities shine.
Black Flash is a technique that more than doubles the destructive power of the user's physical strike. However, this technique can only be activated if cursed energy is employed within a millionth of a second after a physical attack. During this phenomenon, the user's cursed energy flashes black and the user becomes increasingly aware of their cursed energy.
Other notable users
- Kento Nanami
- Yuji Itadori
- Nobara Kugisaki
Achieving Black Flash requires an incredible amount of concentration and cannot be done at will. Kento Nanami is supposed to hold the record for most consecutive uses of Black Flash, at least until Yuji Itadori appears. Gojo is obviously capable of using this ability, though he has yet to do so in the anime. In a later fight in the manga, however, Gojo generates Black Flash to great effect.
7 Six Eyes is one of the strongest abilities in Jujutsu Kaisen
Premiere: Episode 7 “Assault”
Gojo inherited Six Eyes through his bloodline, though the trait has not manifested in the family for over 400 years. Little is known about Six Eyes, except that the user can use it to master the Limitless technique. Six Eyes grants Gojo incredible perception, allowing him to manipulate cursed energy at the atomic level, as well as the ability to use cursed energy more efficiently. Additionally, Six Eyes increases Gojo's mental capacity, allowing him to calculate, analyze, and formulate an attack in a matter of seconds.
Curiosities
- Six Eyes is extremely rare, even among the Gojo clan.
- The holders of the Six Eyes are bound to Master Tengen by fate.
- Kenjaku once killed a one month old baby because he had Six Eyes.
After activating it, Gojo can read the flow of cursed energy to identify a target or predict where an attack is coming from. While Six Eyes allows Gojo to access his power to its full potential, it also overwhelms him and can tire him easily. He keeps his eyes covered to reduce the drawbacks, but he is still able to read the cursed energy flowing around an individual, which helps him "see" them.
6 Limitless allows Gojo to control space on a fundamental level.
Premiere: Episode 2 “For Myself”
Limitless is a cursed technique that allows Gojo to manipulate space at will. Gojo inherited the Limitless technique from his family, but it can only be truly mastered by someone who also possesses Six Eyes. Through the manipulation of cursed energy, Gojo has perfect control over space at the atomic level. In other words, he can effectively alter or modify the structure of space to suit his needs.
Curiosities
- Limitless is loosely based on the mathematics of convergence and divergence
- Limitless gives Gojo the basis to create at least four other techniques.
Limitless also takes an extremely abstract concept like mathematical infinity and brings it to life. Limitless is the base level and serves as the basis for four other cursed energy techniques – Neutral, Empowered, Reversed, and Collision. Satoru Gojo can also tap into Limitless to perform teleportation. He travels dozens of kilometers to retrieve Yuji, hoping that the young student can learn something from Gojo’s battle with Jogo.
5 Infinity doesn't stop things so much as it infinitely slows them down.

The 10 Most Confusing Details of Jujutsu Kaisen That Even Hardcore Fans Struggle With
While Jujutsu Kaisen is a fan-favorite franchise, it still has a lot of complicated story issues as well as continuity problems.
Infinity is the neutral variant of Limitless. While it appears that incoming projectiles are stopped in mid-air, they are actually being slowed infinitely. By taking the space between two things and dividing it an infinite number of times, an invisible barrier is created. Anything that tries to enter the barrier is slowed to the point where it appears to stop completely.
Curiosities
- Certain Cursed Tools are capable of neutralizing the Infinite
- Infinity can also be removed using mastery-based skills
The barrier acts as a shield for Gojo and can be expanded to keep attacks and enemies at bay. Gojo first displays Infinity in front of the game, mocking the Special Grade Cursed Spirit by having it touch his hands mid-battle. Gojo later uses Infinity to turn Hanami into a purple paste, proving that he can extend the technique's range as he sees fit. That said, even Infinity pales in comparison to the strongest abilities in Gojo's arsenal.
4 Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue Creates a Magnetic Attraction
Premiere: Episode 20 “Non-Standard”
By increasing Limitless's cursed energy output, Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue creates a magnetic effect. In an attempt to fill the negative space, the world corrects itself by gathering all nearby objects together like a giant vacuum. If Gojo produces a point of gravity within a specific space where matter is being gathered, he crushes everything to the point where it becomes like a black hole.
Curiosities
- This technique can be extended to Maximum Cursed Energy Output: Blue
- Gojo unlocks this ability by singing “Phase”, “Twilight” and “Eyes of Wisdom”
Gojo can apply the technique to himself to move at high speeds or create a field around himself that wards off their attraction. The low and mid outputs of Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue are quite powerful on their own, but Maximum Cursed Output is by far the strongest variant. Gojo first uses this while fighting Toji, but it doesn't really work because he can't sense Toji's cursed energy.
3 Cursed Technique Reversal: Red was revealed when Gojo fought Toji
Premiere: Episode 7 “Assault”
Cursed Technique Reversal: Red is the exact opposite of Blue – divergence instead of convergence. Instead of forcing matter together, Red generates the power to repel, infusing reversed cursed energy into the power of the Limitless. This ability manifests as a red orb that releases twice as much energy as the blue.
Curiosities
- Cursed Technique Reversal: Red has always been a bottleneck for Limitless users
- Gojo unlocks this ability by chanting “Phase”, “Paramita” and “Pillar of Light”.
This explosive technique is extremely difficult even among the most talented members of the Gojo family, as it requires precise manipulation of cursed energy. Users of the Six Eyes and Limitless were known to have trouble with Cursed Technique Reversal: Red, further cementing Gojo as the greatest sorcerer of his already prestigious clan. Gojo uses Red during his second and final battle with Toji, slyly implying that even death is incapable of taking him down.
2 Hollow Technique: Purple is the devastating combination of red and blue
Premiere: Episode 20 “Non-Standard”

The 10 Strongest Characters in Jujutsu Kaisen (and How They Compare to the Manga)
JJK's iconic characters can't survive without improving their powers and although the anime showed this, they improved more in the manga.
To achieve the Hollow Technique: Purple, Gojo fuses the converging forces of Blue and the diverging forces of Red. When the forces of repulsion and attraction combine perfectly, both infinities collide creating an imaginary mass that pulls the target out of reality. The size of the resulting orb varies depending on its use and intended purpose, but anything within the path of Purple is instantly erased regardless.
Curiosities
- Hollow Technique: Purple remains a secret even among the Gojo Clan.
- Gojo unlocks this ability by chanting “Nine Strings”, “Polarized Light”, “Crow and Declaration” and “Between Front and Back”.
Hollow Technique: Purple is first tested against Toji Fushiguro, and even the nefarious Sorcerer Killer proves to be no match for the newly awakened Gojo. He also uses it against Hanami, with the purple orb clearing a huge path through the forest. However, the Cursed Spirit manages to escape the exorcism through unknown means. Gojo also uses Hollow Technique: Purple later in the manga.
1 Gojo's ultimate skill is Domain Expansion: Unlimited Void
Premiere: Episode 7 “Assault”
Satoru Gojo's Domain Expansion Technique, known as Unlimited Void, is the space occupied by Limitless. This three-dimensional area looks very much like outer space, with scattered stars, galaxies, and even a black hole hovering in the middle of the ground. An opponent trapped in this non-space becomes completely overwhelmed with endless information passing through their brains. They never have time to process the information coming at them, forcing their nervous systems to shut down.
Curiosities
- Unlimited Void is without a doubt the most powerful skill in Jujutsu Kaisen
- That said, even Gojo's domain expansion has some drawbacks.
As a result, Gojo's enemy remains paralyzed by the experience, entering an immobilized state as he slowly dies. Gojo activates Unlimited Void from within the Game's Iron Mountain Coffin, effortlessly eroding the villain's Domain Expansion before ripping off his catatonic head. While Unlimited Void is easily Gojo's strongest ability on this list, there is perhaps a technique in Jujutsu Kaisen capable of matching it – and it does not belong to Satoru Gojo.
