In his new form, Satoru encounters the dragon Veldora, a catastrophic-level monster who has been sealed away for 300 years after destroying a city. Sympathizing with the dragon's plight, Satoru promises to help him break the seal. In return, Veldora gives him the name Rimuru Tempest and grants him his divine protection. Now free from the monotony of his past life, Rimuru sets out on a new adventure with a clear purpose in mind. As he grows accustomed to his new body, his actions begin to impact the world, slowly changing his fate.
