dragon ball fans attending San Diego Comic-Con this year will be in for a special treat. SH Figuarts, a major producer of dragon ball merchandise and collectibles, is introducing three exclusive character figures into its expansive dragon ball collection.

As detailed in dragon ballofficial websiteExclusive editions of “Son Goku and Son Gohan: Kid & Kintoun,” Super Saiyan Future Trunks “and Final Battle Jiren” will be available at SDCC 2024. These action figures are part of SH Figuarts’ Tamashii Nations brand, which specializes in creating high-quality figures for blockbuster franchises such as dragon ball, Kaiju #8, Mobile Suit Gundam, One piece, Godzilla and many others. Pricing information is not available at this time, but the website asks fans to “stay tuned” for additional details. This year, SCDD will be held at the San Diego Convention Center from July 25-28.

Upcoming Dragon Ball figure release in the US features characters from DBZ and Super

“Son Goku and Son Gohan: Kid & Kintoun” shows Goku and Gohan as they appeared at the beginning of Dragon Ball Zthe direct sequel to Akira Toriyama's original dragon ball manga. The figure shows Goku wearing his standard orange gi, while Gohan sports the same outfit he wore during his first visit to Master Roshi's island. As shown above, father and son are depicted "riding" the iconic nimbus cloud, which Goku received from Roshi when the former was a child. Goku's figure is articulated in several areas, allowing him to be posed in a variety of ways. Tamashii Nations' version of Future Trunks, who plays a prominent role in both Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super, is depicted in an intense battle pose – a fitting choice for the heroic half-Saiyan.

Unlike Goku, Gohan and Trunks, Jiren was not introduced to the dragon ball franchise until the launch of Dragon Ball Super. He served as a major adversary during the manga's "Tournament of Power Saga", which revolved around a high-stakes battle royale with powerful opponents from across the multiverse. During this saga, Jiren proves himself to be one of the most formidable fighters in the entire universe, pushing Goku's Ultra Instinct form to its absolute limit during their thrilling final fight. The Tamashii Nation Jiren figure depicts the character as he prepares to unleash a devastating energy attack.

A rare pre-inked Dragon Ball sketch by the late Akira Toriyama has resurfaced, showcasing the famed manga artist's incredible illustrative skills.

2024 was a dark year for dragon ball enthusiasts. On March 1, franchise creator Akira Toriyama died suddenly after suffering an acute subdural hematoma. However, Toriyama's associates are still planning to release additional chapters of Dragon Ball Super. Toyotarou, who illustrates the series, recently broke the manga's hiatus with new artwork of Gohan in his Beast form. This is part of an official serialization project that dragon ball will continue to operate until Super makes its grand return to the pages of V-jump magazine.

The respective anime adaptations of the series, including dragon ball, Dragon Ball Z, dragon ball gt and Dragon Ball Super, are available to stream on Hulu and Crunchyroll. Toei Animation's upcoming film BD Series, dragon ballAlwaysis scheduled to premiere in fall 2024. A specific release date has not yet been confirmed.
