A recent revelation on Facebook has surprised the “Genshin Impact“: A user from the Philippines named his newborn daughter “Furina Focalors,” in reference to the character and Goddess of Justice from the popular video game. The subject, known on the platform as “Kaedehara Tom”, shared an image of his daughter’s identity card as proof that the name was officially registered.

The publication (now deleted, but we can confirm it actually existed with a Google search) generated a wave of reactions among “Genshin Impact” followers, who were surprised and, in some cases, excited by the choice of name. The game's community has debated the meaning and originality of the name choice.

Some community members praised the father's devotion to the game and his desire to name his daughter after a character who represents justice and strength. Others debated the cultural and personal implications of choosing such an unusual name for a child, considering the influence of entertainment media on personal decisions.

“Genshin Impact” has had a significant impact on popular culture since its release in 2020, with a loyal and passionate player base often demonstrating their love for the game through various forms of expression. Naming a child after a game character is a testament to the profound impact the video game has had on its fans.

  • «This kid lost 50/50 with his parents».
  • «It's okay when people do this to pets. I'm not sure how I feel when you do it to another human being. It seems like a big magnet for bullies.».
  • «Too far away. It would be depressing to know that your name is a character from a game that was shut down years ago when you were a teenager. He's also a magnet for bullies. I'd appreciate the parents if I knew them. Having a Furina poster, plush, cosplay, or even a sex doll is one thing. Ruining a child for her is another.».
  • «Honestly, just “Furina” would have been fine. Sure it’s a little weird, but at least the kid wouldn’t have to change his name later in life to be taken seriously.».
  • «Of course it's the Philippines».
  • «Furina is a beautiful name. While I’m not sure how I feel about adding Focalors to it, I still have to say that the community is pretty tough on parents. All in all, the full name is pretty unique and has a nice ring to it.».
  • «Horrible parenting».
  • «Why on earth would you let your child have the same name as a demon from Ars Goetia? “Furina” would have been much better… since Furina is “Goddess of Springs,” an ancient Roman goddess name that is completely normal.».
  • «Furina would have been cool».
  • «I think it would have been more acceptable if they had left out the Focalors... that's a bit much and the poor kid will probably get bullied a lot».
  • «Okay, I just want to say that as a Filipino, I doubt this kid will get bullied. First, Genshin may be popular, but it’s not as “popular with the general public” as Mobile Legends. Second, trust me, that part of Focalor won’t be used most of the time; in fact, that girl could have a nickname completely unrelated to her name, since it’s still a common trend here in the country… by the way, I have it, my mother has it, so do my friends and acquaintances. I have two names and my nickname is far enough away that people would be surprised to see my full name. Third, no one will know that “Focalor” is the name of a demon. People here pick and choose parts of the Bible, no “normie” would care about Ars Goetia. Genshin is popular, no doubt, but I’ve never seen the Catholic Church make a move to ban the game since the mascot is called “Paimon”».
  • «Kids usually don't like their parents using video game or anime names. Or so my son Master Chief told me.».
  • «I feel sorry for this child. From what I know, this kind of thing is more common in the Philippines, but still».
  • «Furina is a beautiful name, but Focalor is the name of a demon, so I don't know about that.».
  • «They should have left it at Furina, to be honest.».
  • «To be fair, Furina is a good name, but the Focalors part was unnecessary and isn't it a demonic name? It's a bit of a strange decision to use that in a religious country. Oh, who am I kidding? We also have Lucifer here. But yeah, bottom line, Furina alone would have been fine. At least it sounds normal.».
  • «There is no way the boy or any of his classmates would know Genshin when they are at school.».
  • «They will harass the child a lot! Poor child».
  • «Not all parents deserve a child».
  • «Furina is a discreet and beautiful name, but Furina Focalors is too far hahaha».
  • «I hope the child doesn't get bullied at school because of this.».
  • «Furina is a good name, actually, but adding Focalors? That made it sound weird in real life.».
  • «I mean, if it was just “Furina,” it probably wouldn’t be that weird. To non-Genshin fans, it would sound like an unusual name or something. But, man, they didn’t need to put “Focalors” in there too, because, you know, it’s the name of a fucking demon.».
