A girl who calls herself “Ito can't sleep” on the Internet, and who describes herself as a musician, artist and writer, recently became a trend after sharing a video in which she appears dressed as Lain Iwakura, the iconic protagonist of “Serial Experiments Lain”, while giving a class on website programming. In the video, Ito offers a tutorial on how to create a website from scratch, without requiring prior programming knowledge, explaining in detail each tool he uses.
The video, while receiving much praise for its content and style, featured a peculiar technical error. Ito forgot to apply a mirror effect to the footage, so everything looks horizontally flipped.. This detail has caused a mix of confusion and humor among viewers, mainly because Lain Iwakura's unique highlights appear on the wrong side.

The online community was quick to react to this curious video. Comments like “This is the only class I will see“ and “Lain would never use Opera GX“ They emphasize both their admiration for the content and their loyalty to Lain's character. Some users joke about the video's true intention, saying: “There's no way the purpose of this video is to teach us how to program, ha ha ha“while others praised Ito's work on his website: “I visited your site and thought 'oh yeah, respectable for-' but then it loaded completely and I thought 'wow, that looks really nice'. It's quite charming“.
However, not all comments were positive. Some users were skeptical about the authenticity of the video, mentioning “How the hell does he have such big eyes? It must be some editing, it's unreal“ and “Of course she has 500 kg of makeup and at least 30 filters, her face sometimes gets distorted when she talks“. Despite this, most enjoyed the experience, with nostalgic comments such as “I couldn't find this video. This found me. Damn, this has 2008 vibes.“.
“Serial experiments launched” is a cult series that has maintained its popularity since its release in 1998. With its unique blend of cyberpunk, philosophy, and exploration of identity in the digital age, the series has resonated deeply with anime and technology fans alike.. Lain Iwakura has become a symbol of the relationship between man and technology, a theme that remains relevant to this day.
