Kappei Yamaguchi, the voice actor for Usopp in One piece anime, announced on his official X account on May 30, 2024, that he was hospitalized and will have to undergo surgery.
In a series of lighthearted tweets, Yamaguchi explained that he overexerted himself while lifting weights and will be hospitalized for a short period. He humorously noted that he will return with a cyborg shoulder after the procedure.
The surgery, scheduled for tomorrow, will treat a ruptured tendon in his shoulder, which the actor blamed on his rigorous weightlifting regimen.
Acknowledging the need for the procedure, he assured fans that the injury is not very serious, but requires medical intervention as it does not heal naturally.

I'm hospitalized right now! Tomorrow is surgery and then it looks like I'll have to go a day without eating. Is it like the Gari-zo fast or something?
Oh no! Thank you all for the supportive messages! ^^ I overdid it with the weightlifting and ended up with a torn tendon in my shoulder, which doesn't heal naturally, so surgery is necessary. It's not that serious, I'm sorry to worry you. Starting tomorrow I'll be a cyborg with just my shoulder!^^
