Visa and MasterCard continue their war against hentai

Through its official media, the popular Japanese platform FANTIAconsidered as the “Patreon Artists”as it allows artists to stay in touch with their followers, upload exclusive content that can only be accessed through individual subscription and can even receive direct donations, recently surprised by announcing that it will no longer accept deposits through VISA and MasterCard services.

Unfortunately, FANTIA joins a growing list of websites that are technically censored by these major banking service providers. Both VISA and MasterCard do not want to be involved with sites that deal with NSFW content (i.e. any adult content and its subgenres, especially the problematic “lolicon” and “shotacon”).

The most worrying thing is that many of the artists who migrated from PIXIV FANBOX to FANTIAwhen the first one was also censored by VISA and MasterCard, Now they will have to migrate again to one of the remaining platforms that can still operate with these bank cards.

In case it wasn't clear, being banned from the world's two largest banking providers is a death sentence, financially speaking. Although Japan has its own banking services, such as JCB (Japan Credit Bureau), overseas fans cannot use them. This means that with the ban on VISA and MasterCard, Japanese artists lose any opportunity to receive support from foreign fans. Now do you understand the seriousness of the matter?

It's a shame that a way has been found to regulate illustrated and animated content in the most unfair way., since these types of decisions do not only affect artists of NSFW content, but also those who produced content for all audiences, who also had to pay the price. Is there any solution to this international pressure?
