However, the focus here is on the show's central theme, 'The Way of the Ninja.' The show does a fitting job with its blend of martial arts and combat technology in portraying the 'Ninja.' It simultaneously maintains the important elements associated with the concept of ninja and 'Shinobi,' such as secret arts, skills, and even combat equipment.

The series also has plenty of characters through which these elements are presented, particularly regarding their various abilities. Therefore, it's natural to wonder about these abilities, which may be the most powerful. Here's a detailed look at the show's most dangerous ninja abilities.

6 Illusory Mirage

User: Higan

The Illusionary Mirage makes his debut alongside Higan in the series premiere, during a bloody battle between Higan and the ninja assassins sent to assassinate him and his family. Due to his mastery of the ninja arts and stealth, Higan is the only character capable of using the Illusionary Mirage. By exploiting his deception, he can conjure illusory clones that leave most of his opponents stunned and frantic as they try to discover the real Higan.

The skill's true advantage shines through when Higan engages in battle against multiple opponents, as it works to its full potential against the ninja assassins during Higan's first killing spree in the series. However, the skill only works so well due to the vast difference in skill between him and the assassins.

5 Veil of Shadow

User: Higan

Shadow Veil is another ninja art seen throughout the series, but used only by Higan. Like Illusionary Mirage, Shadow Veil is produced from a mysterious shadowy mass that emerges from Higan's mouth whenever he attempts to use the skill. Higan surrounds himself with the shadowy mass in a smokescreen, and what emerges almost resembles a shadow clone.

However, instead of a full clone, the ability allows Higan to conjure extra arms attached to his body, significantly increasing his offensive capabilities. He first uses the ability in the show's second episode, after the battle against the praying mantis assassin sent to kill him and Detective Mike Morris.

4 Secret Art: Stark Consciousness

User: Higan

The Stark Consciousness secret art is undoubtedly the most lethal of the displayed abilities, given the level of its user, Higan. Unlike the specific secret arts granted to assassins-turned-ninjas like Higan and Zai, the Stark Consciousness secret art can be used by any ninja, and its effectiveness is directly linked to the user's martial level. However, throughout the series, Higan is the only character to use it.

The ability is activated by releasing pins embedded in specific acupressure points, as seen with Higan. Upon releasing these pins, the user enters a frenzied state, where only the user's savage survival instincts remain. Stark Consciousness is typically used as a last resort in battle when survival is paramount, as seen with Higan against the ninja assassins and his first encounter with the Lieutenants. While effective and extreme, the ability also has significant drawbacks, including death after use, as evidenced by Higan's damaged body after each use of the technique.

3 Secret Art: Thunder

User: Zai

Zai's Secret Art is one of the specific Secret Arts used throughout the series, The Thunderclap. Typically, an assassin can only be honored with the title of Ninja after receiving a Secret Art known only to its user. However, to receive such a Secret Art, the assassin must have completed numerous missions and passed several exams established by the clan.

Therefore, Zai, along with Mari and Higan, are the only titular ninjas in the series outside of the clan head, Yamaji. Besides Zai's specific skill set, Thunderclaps is an ability that accentuates his best quality: speed. Thunderclaps allow him to surpass the human speed limit, allowing him to move faster than the speed of sound, similar to lightning. Zai uses his secret art once in the series, during his battle with Higan, where he is ultimately defeated.

2 Secret Art: Serenity

User: Higan

Like Zai, Higan was one of three assassins granted the title of Ninja, meaning he also received a secret art—Serenity. Due to the secrecy behind secret arts, they are typically skills specifically attuned to their user's most important attribute. Unlike Zai, Higan's greatest strengths lie in the perception of his five senses. Extremely perceptive, Serenity is an additional layer to Higan's sensitivity to his five senses and inner mind.

Having sharpened all his senses to the extreme, Higan's Serenity allows him to read the flow of even the most minute movements in his environment and respond to them at the most appropriate time. Higan uses Serenity for the first time in the series during his battle against Zai. However, the full extent of the ability comes to light during the final battle against Yamaji.

1 Secret Art: The Will of God

User: Yamaji

A secret art worthy of the series' ultimate antagonist and villain, God's Will belongs to the head of the Ninja clan, Yamaji. By far the most deadly skill in the series, God's Will is more or less an encapsulation of everything Yamaji is and aspires to be through his world domination efforts. Yamaji doesn't reveal his secret art until the series' final episode. As is typical of all personal secret arts, God's Will accentuates Yamaji's best traits—playing with the minds of his enemies through various methods.

With the Will of God, Yamaji can directly alter the minds of his enemies, making them relive the worst and most painful moments of their lives, as he did with Higan in the final battle. By doing so, he weakens his opponents mentally and physically, almost to the point of losing the will to fight, before delivering the final blow.
