Popular Hyouka artist reports harassment

A few months ago we talked about “Mery__S2_“, a popular internet artist recognized as one of the pillars of“Hyouka“. It turns out that “Mery__S2_“I was in charge of sharing illustrations of the protagonists for several years Eru Chitanda and Hotaro Oreki as a couple.

Let's remember that “Hyouka” is known as “romance bait”, precisely because many of those who started watching the series thought it was a romance story and progressed through the episodes expecting a romantic development that never happened.
Although the artist started sending out cheeky illustrations It turns out that this morning his fans were shocked to discover that he had decided to delete all of his social media content. and leave the following statement:
- «For now, I'm taking a short break. I'll continue drawing Hotaru because I really like her. I won't be deleting my Pixiv account or profile, so don't worry, hehe. The truth is, I've been dealing with this since 2022, but I barely showed it two years ago. I've been through so much I couldn't talk about. I understand it's inevitable when there are so many people. I'm going to rest a bit and then I'll upload more drawings. I know I've bothered you a lot during this time, thank you and I'm sorry. I'll take a break and come back. I'll be doing live streams from time to time, so if you're bored, stop by.».

From the wording, you can easily tell that this is not a sick leave, But the author was having to deal with a series of offensive and harassing messages through his Twitter account. In fact, before deleting his content, he shared some of these messages from the user "@yutorleu" where he wrote:
- «I'm tired of looking at the previous illustration. It works! Don't make your next creation your personal property! Swear! You want followers who trust you and money. You're unhappy with money, you're shit, get out of here!».
- «I've been watching this mery_S2_thinking it's funny, but as expected, people abroad have also criticized it. Since they're sharing much more content than the author, I can only see this as blasphemy or a hijacking of the work.».
- «It's because I blocked you, criminal! Don't go, scum. After all, Koreans are still Koreans! Get out, trash! Don't pay too much attention to the author.».

Although the comments were made in Japanese, Japanese netizens discovered that he was simply translating his comments, as his words were wrong. in many places:
- «I saw that yutorleu has some weird kanji, so it doesn't look like Japanese. But in the Japanese screenshot of the same post, the kanji were normal, so it's hard to conclude that he's foreign. The text looked a little strange, but what he says and does is already pretty crazy, so who knows?».
- «This user yutorleu, who pretended to be Japanese and was a stalker, waited for Hyouka's illustrator to delete all of his illustrations and then deleted his account and disappeared. It's really worrying. It says the account is blocked and someone else took the ID, but there's no certainty that it's actually someone else.».

Unfortunately, “Mery__S2_” has not given any indication of when it will return to share its talent with the “Hyouka” fan community.who are already discussing this situation:
- «WHO THE HELL HARASSED HIM? THE HYOUKA FANDOM IS LITERALLY DEAD, NO UPDATES SINCE THE LAST NOVEL AND SOMEONE WITH YOUR RETARDED MENTALITY ONLY SAYS STUPID THINGS AND MAKES MERY FEEL REALLY BAD! I'M SO ANGRY AS A HYOUKA FAN!».
- «Dude, not my favorite artist, bro… WHY? Whoever harassed you, I hope you kill yourself».
- «Damn, I hate Twitter and its users, the only person who kept the fandom alive is leaving us. Wipe Twitter off the face of the earth, please.».
- «Whoever harasses her, you're a lifeless piece of shit that hangs out in her room.».
- «Today my day was ruined, all because of some idiot trying to get the attention of an artist who only shared her love for Hyouka through her drawings. What the hell, the truth is my mood has taken a turn for the worse.».
- «To be honest, posts like "this artist has been carrying the Hyouka fandom on their shoulders for years" or "I've switched to 5 different fandoms and they're still with Hyouka" DON'T HELP. People who post things like this repeatedly are just looking for viral tweets now, and sometimes it can feel like».
- «A well-known artist harassed for drawing what he loves. 10 years of fine art of the missing Hyouka ships».
- «I love your art, friend… and always will. I'll wait for your return. I've been following you for a long time because I fell in love with your drawings. You're my hero now LOL Take a break, friend. You're brilliant.».
- «Please take care, Meri! We all love your work.».
- «Sempai, don't focus your attention on a few individuals, just look to your future. We're happy that you continue creating works of art. Please stop paying attention to the words of people you don't like and focus only on yourself and the people you do. This is advice from someone who was a provocateur in his early days as an artist, who didn't care about others and only drew what he wanted. Thank you again for the art, and I hope you recover soon.».
- «There are thousands of people who love and support what you do, including me. You're a fantastic artist. I hope you post here again soon.».
- «For many people, your art is the reason Hyouka is still alive and well in our hearts. I'm sorry some people were mean to you, but remember that many of us love your art with all our hearts. Take care!».
