Dandadan will be as popular as Jujutsu Kaisen, they claim

On September 25, at its autumn press conference in Osaka, broadcaster MBS promoted the anime adaptation of the popular manga 'Dandadan,' which will air on its national programming block in October. This work, created by Yukinobu Tatsu, has been a resounding success since its serialization in Shueisha's Shonen Jump Plus app, racking up millions of views and millions of copies in circulation.
'Dandadan' combines a story of supernatural battles with elements of comedy and young romance, attracting a large number of readers thanks to its fresh and original approach. MBS's general director of programming, Shinichi Tabuchi (田淵伸一), highlighted the series' potential, stating that, despite its occult and paranormal themes, the series has the potential to become a success on par with animes such as 'Jujutsu Kaisen', 'Haikyu!' and 'Kimetsu no Yaiba', due to its ability to attract a diverse audience.
'Dandadan' has stood out for its originality in addressing urban legends, aliens and paranormal elements, which has generated a fan base passionate about horror and occult themes. However, some critics point out that this peculiar mix of genres may not appeal to all viewers.
The anime will be produced by the renowned studio Science SARU, known for its innovative and unique visual style. This has generated great expectations, but also uncertainty among fans about how the transition from the narrative and visual dynamics of the manga to the animated format will be. According to Tabuchi, the team behind the series is confident that 'Dandadan' will be able to reach the international market, just as other successful franchises have done.

On social media, the statement generated mixed reactions. Some fans express enthusiasm, while others doubt the adaptation's scope. Comments include:
- «Dandadan has some horror and occult elements, so its success will depend on capturing the attention of those who love these themes.».
- «“MBS has a successful track record in anime, so it's understandable that they're confident, but we'll have to see how the general public reacts.”».
- «The manga relies heavily on its action and visual composition, so we'll have to see how that translates to the anime.».
- «Dandadan is a rare anime that even features Mayumi Tanaka».
- «TBS is also declaring that 'Ao no Hako' will be its number one. It looks like it will be a direct battle between TBS and MBS for anime dominance.».
- «Although it's from another network, it will depend on whether they can leverage social media as much as 'Sousou no Frieren' did. If they can keep the conversation going between episodes, the hype and anticipation for each episode will increase.».
- «I secretly support Dandadan because Zutomayo is responsible for the ending».
- «The anime was leaked overseas, right?».
- «Important people should just watch and warmly support».
- «Wouldn't it be safer to animate the rest of 'Haikyuu!!'? If you really think Dandadan is on par with those three anime, your sense of taste and judgment are failing.».
- «Honestly, I don't think it has that much potential. It'll probably end up like 'Chainsaw Man.' It doesn't seem like the kind of manga that will explode in popularity.».
- «In the fall, I think 'Ranma' will be the most popular series».
- «These kinds of high expectations can be counterproductive.».
- «Since it's produced by Science SARU, I have a feeling it will be a stylized, modern anime.».
- «Dandadan is a lot of fun, but the story and characters are quite peculiar, so I'm not sure it will have the same impact as 'Haikyuu!!' or 'Kimetsu no Yaiba'».
