The recent interview with Jukki Hanadascreenwriter of the popular original anime “Girl Band Cry”, caused quite a stir on social media. In it, Hanada revealed his intentions to give the series a depressing ending, moving away from the typical happy endings.

Hanada emphasizes that I wasn't interested in a happy ending from the start.since the essence of the story is to face and overcome difficulties, even if the solutions are not simple.

• «In the final scene, the girls leave the agency and start over. If they had packed the Budokan and defeated Diamond Dust, it would have become 'Love Live.' From the beginning, I never thought of a happy ending. As I mentioned in episode 10, problems aren't easily solved. But we must move forward. This is what I always wanted to show in this story, so I thought about what would be the best way to express it and I came up with this ending.».

When asked about a possible sequel and what elements he would like to include, Hanada commented:

• «One idea I had was that Nina would be seduced by a super handsome lead singer and follow him to his house, but at the end, when she's about to be attacked, she takes him down with a judo technique and runs back. These kinds of stories can't be done in idol anime, so I thought it would be interesting to include them. I'd also like to do more episodes about everyday life.».
