MAL describes the plot of Look back as:

Fourth-grader Ayumu Fujino regularly draws four-panel manga for the school newspaper and is praised for having the best art in the class. One day, her teacher asks her to give one of her manga spots in the school newspaper to a slacker named Kyomoto. When Kyomoto's manga appears next to Fujino's, it receives widespread praise for its detailed art, making Fujino furiously jealous.

Refusing to be defeated by someone who barely attends school, Fujino dedicates herself to learning how to create manga. As time passes, however, her goal of outshining Kyomoto seems increasingly distant, and Fujino, now in sixth grade, eventually gives up and stops creating manga.

Graduation day arrives, and Fujino is asked to deliver Kyomoto's graduation certificate to her. By chance, the two end up face-to-face, and their unexpected encounter will have consequences far beyond anything either of them could have anticipated.
