Naruto did just that, which is why, in his absence, Shikamaru now serves as acting Hokage. Shikamaru remained grateful to Boruto for believing in him. This led to their secret alliance in Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes era, as Shikamaru tries to help break Konoha's brainwashing. He's brimming with confidence, and much of it had to do with Naruto using Boruto's words to help Shikamaru evolve.

People like Shikamaru were nihilistic about Sasuke's redemption. But Naruto defended Sasuke even more, even against the council and the Kages. Boruto knew that once the public saw Naruto praising Sasuke as a hero and a Ranger of the new age, everyone would believe him. It was a clever tactic that worked. Boruto was adamant that they could rescue Kawaki. That's why, even after Kawaki imprisoned Naruto and Hinata and took control of the village through Eida's spell, Boruto believed he could bring him back to the light.
